Awrey - Phillips in Manitoba
In researching my wife Phillips relatives, I have come across much information (including old photos and letters) concerning Mary Phillips (1884-1968) and her husband Salem Awrey (1872-1941), both of whom died in Manitoba.
I would be much interested in sharing information with any of their descendants or relatives.

Hi Michael:
I noticed your information on the Manitoba Message Board Salem Awrey is in my Family Tree. I don't have much information on his parents, wife or himself other than he was from the Erin, Wellington area of Ontario and married Mary Phillips in Manitoba.I'd really appreciate any information you could help me with.
Thanks / Richard Awrey

Re: Awrey - Phillips in Manitoba
Hi Richard,
Salem's parents were Robert Awrey (b. 1852) and Sarah Jane Baldwin (b. 1854), and wife was Mary Phillips (1884-1968), d/o James Phillips and Margaret [Maggie] Ross.
My wife is related via the Phillips connection; how are you related?

Re: Awrey - Phillips in Manitoba
Michael:
Salem would be a 3rd couisin of mine. I have his children's names, but no information on them. Do you know where Robert, Salem and Mary are buried (cemetery) in Manitoba? Are you from Manitoba?

Re: Awrey - Phillips in Manitoba
Richard,
My info suggests that Salem and Mame are buried in Fairview Cemetery, Roland, MB.
Do you live near there? If so, and if you ever obtain a photo of their grave, could you forward it to me? Thanks.
Also, do you have any info on Fanny Awrey or Charles Awrey - Salem's siblings?
My wife and I live in Ontario.

Re: Awrey - Phillips in Manitoba
Betty,
Thank you for doing this.
If it's not too much trouble, I would indeed like to know what's written about this family in the book you mention.
I remember, a few years ago, reading through some old letters that my wife's mother (who is now deceased) had, and some were from Salem and Mame (Mary).
Regards,
Michael
