I have a copy of "Bowsman's History Through The Years" compiled in 1977 by Alice Sharpe and would be happy to look up family information.

Surnames: Swanson
Hello, Doreen
Thank you for looking up any reference to Peter and Annie
Swanson family in the "Bowsman History through the Years". They also had 2 children, Elsa (Elsie) and Ralph Eldor that we
are interested in our family research. They moved to Bowsman
about 1925 from Ochre River.
Appreciate any help
Jan Rud

Hello Jan,
I'm going to reply to you on your e-mail address. The history book has no write-up on the Swanson family. However, I may have some personal knowledge of the Ralph Swanson you are referring to.

Hello Jan,
I am unclear if you ever got the write up from the book, "Bowsman's History Through The Years." There is a story on page 96.
THE SWANSON FAMILY
Mr. & Mrs. Eldor Swanson were of Swedish origin, they settled in Pine River N.D. After their marriage (Mrs. Swanson was the former Annie Holmquist.) where their son Ralph was born. About 1916 they came north to the Ochre River, Man. district, where they spent several years farming. They moved to Bowsman around 1922. While in Ochre their daughter Elsie was born. Mr. Swanson worked for the Caverly Lumber Co. for many years. Ralph and Elsie received their education at Ochre, Bowsman, and Lavender. Ralph served overseas, in WW 2. He farmed with his Dad till he passed away in 1973. Ralph continued to dfarm till ill health struck. He passed away in Aug. 1976. Elsie married Jack Blodgett of Conrad, Montana, U.S.A. She passed away in 1973. Her husband also in 1973. Mrs. Swanson passed away in 1950.

Thanks, Karen. Immediately after posting my first message and before contacting them at their e-mail address, I found that write-up and sent it to Jan.

Hello Doreen,
Glad to hear that. I know the story was very short but at least the family was in the book. I just bought my copy of that book at an auction and am finding it an interesting read. If anyone knows how many copies of this book were ever printed I'd sure like to know.
Karen

Hi Karen,
Have you found out if anyone is still selling the Bowsman History Book. I'm interested in getting a copy as a lot of my relatives are from there-including George Smith and Annie Scott. Thanks. Evelyn

Hello Evelyn,
The book (Bowsman's History) was printed back in 1977 so you'd only find it at a used book store. Chapters.ca has a copy of that book for sale on their web site. I'm sure there weren't very many copies printed.

Hi Karen,
Thanks for the reply. Are you related to Clayton Kemp from Wpg?
I noticed we were researching some of the same people-George Smith and Annie Scott. How is Goldie related to them? Thanks. Evelyn
