I am looking for any information regarding William and Maggie Hart and James and Mary Kirkness of Oxford House.

Their children Robert Hart and Maggie Kirkness were married in Oxford House in 1894 and then moved to Norway House, Manitoba.

I am looking for any information regarding these families.

Thanks,

Heather Mo

Hi Ron,

Robert Hart was also my great grandfather. He had four children, Alfred, Albert, Alexander and Francis.

Hello Heather,

What information are you looking for? I have been doing some family history myself and I figure that the Hart's Of Churchill Manitoba and the Hart's of Oxford/Norway House are related.

My grandpa (Joseph Samuel Hart) had a brother by the name of William Hart which was named after their father who was from the Orkney Islands in Scotland. The reason they came to Canada was because of the Fur Trade. Back in those days times where tought and the land wasn't so great for farming or whatever. So, the young men of the Orkney Islands signed these contracts to come and work with the HBC Fur Trade for 7 yrs at a time. Many just continued to resign these contracts.

My grandpa's brother left the Churchill/ York Factory area and moved south and was never head of again. Do you think this could be the same man? Let me know I am interested in your story.
