Hello! I am desperately looking for more information on this side of my family. I have been researching the Henkel line for quite awhile and have hit a road block and have been unable to find any further information.
Here is what I have so far starting with my great-grandmother
Maria Henkel(Henckel?) b. 1888 Volhynia, Russia
Married:
Joseph Metner b. Unknown Volynia, Russia d. 1915 Manitoba, Canada
They had 6 children
Rudolph, Carl, Reinholt, Olga, Herbert, Albert
Married (2)
Daniel Andreyev Neuman (Neumann?,Nieman? Newman?) b. 1875 Russia d. 1928 Manitoba
They had 5 children
Clara, Edward, Redena, Emma, Wilbert (Bill)
This is what I know of Maria's Parentage
Father: Christof (Christoph) Henkel (Henckel?) B. 1863 Poland/Russia? D. 1946 Germany?
Mother: Katherine (Katarina?, Justina?) Werner B. Date Unknown, Poland? D. Unknown Germany?
Her Father (Christof) Had 3? Siblings (That we know of and can confirm) who all Immigrated to Canada in the early 1900's ( 1905-1915 )
Ludwig Henkel B. 1873 D. 1952 Manitoba, Canada
John Henkel B. 1878 D. 1967 Manitoba, Canada
Sophia Ruchotzki (nee Henkel) B. 1885 D. 1970 Manitoba, Canada
We believe there are more siblings we are unaware of and need help figuring out who/whom they are. We also need to know the possible parentage of Christof and Katherine, as well if Katherine had any siblings. From what we believe Christof remained in Russia. From an excerpt of Taming A Wilderness we do know Sophia Had a Nephew Bill Werner who came to Canada with her Husband Alex(Alec?)
Maria also had many siblings,
Emma Henkel B. Unknown D. Unknown Possibly In Brazil May have married a Stauch (sp?)
Nathalie Reich? B. Unknown D. Unknown Alberta? Was listed as a Mrs. Julius Reich in Maria's Obituary.
Sophie B. Unknown D. Unknown Possibly In Argentina and May Have married an Emil Gering?
Johann Henkel B. 1894 Volyhnia, Russia D. 1973 Germany Married Katharina Nersheimer
Maria's 2nd Husband and his family are also stumping me at present,
I have a copy of Daniels passport from 1907 Issued By Korytnitsk Volost Appears to be written in Ukrainian.
This passport states that he was married, at the time of issue. When he married my great grandmother he is listed as a widower on the marriage certificate. I have no idea who this previous wife is, or if they had any children.
Also on the marriage license it states that he is from Vladimir, Volynia, Russia ( which is now owned by Ukraine, at the time was under Russian Rule ), and that he was a Lutheran.
I have also found the name of his parents from the marriage license.
Andreas Neumann
Elisabeth Kitzmann
Any information anyone could give me would be incredibly helpful in tracking down more information on these two families.
