Would SKS tell me where Clarkleigh (or maybe it is still called Posen at this time) is listed on this census. In the 1901 census it was under Selkirk District, SD Posen.

Thanks,
Grace

I didn't find Clarkleigh on the map, but I did find Oak Point in the district of Daughin. On the present day map Clarkleigh is located just north of Oak Point on Lake Manitoba

Hello Grace,
The post office database has Clarkleigh located at section 36, Township 18, Range 5 West.

You should find it on the 1911 census in the Dauphin # 16 District, sub-district # 4

Thanks to all that replied to my query. It was much appreciated. Started searching all the MB census and decided it was too much work.

Thanks again,
Grace

Hello Gace,
I have the book "Wagons to Wings, History of Lundar and Districts 1872-1980". It covers the Clarkleigh area and I'd be glad to do a lookup for you.

Also, if you haven't found the family in the 1911 census post the names and I'll see if I can find them.
Karen

Karen,

Thanks for you offer, it is much appreciated. I did find the few relatives that I have in Clarkleigh - King, Paul, Seaman, Greenham & Burge. It didn't take me long after I received your posting. I also have the book "Wagons to Wheels" which my mother gave me, her grandfather was John Henry Harris.

Grace, I am new to these boards so have only just seen your message from 2005! My great grandmother's sister, Emily Jane Morley, married a John Henry Harris in Somerset, England before emigrating to the Clarkleigh area c1883. After he died, she married George Paul. Having read a newspaper announcement of her death, I notice that her daughters were named as Mrs Alfred King, Clarkleigh; Mrs HJ Greenham, Neepawa; Mrs CF Greenham,Clarkleigh and Mrs Robert Oughton, Stonewall. As you mentioned several of these surnames I wondered if there was a link? I hope you see this message. Sam Gross.

Hi Sam:
I am writing from Bowmanville Ontario where we are trying to uncover a little mystery. We (members of the Legion Branch 178) are writing a book about the people of this town who gave active military service down through the years and find a nurse, Mable Emma Bruce on our list who went out to Clarkleigh after her WW1 service. You seem to know your way around Clarkleigh records - are any of them online? I'd like to know more about our Mabel Emma's life after she went out there. Can you suggest a place to look? She apparently married a fellow called Charles G. Evans who was possibly from Clarkleigh. I certainly appreciate any assistance you can offer in directing me to Clarkleigh records.
