Andrew and Eudokia Melnychuck, Sandy Lake, Manitoba, Canada, from Monastyrok, Galicia Ukraine
Andrew Melnychuck from around Monastyrok, Ternopil District of the Western Ukraine. He and most of his children settled in Sandy Lake, Manitoba.
My maternal grandmother's father was born 1854 and died in 1948. His wife Eudokia Wowchuk (I think) was born in 1856 and died in 1923. Both from Ukraine and died in Manitoba. Came here in 1907. Children that I know of were: 2 other sisters who stayed in the Ukraine. Not sure of their names, maybe Effie and Annie. His sisters were Katherine (Katyrina, Katy), Maria (Mary), Helen (Elena) my grandmother. Prokop, Stephan (Steve), Tanasy(Tony) .
Other surnames in this family group were descendants of Andrew Andriowski. John, Sophie, Mary, Yolanna, Helen or Ellen, Polly,
These other names married into the family sooner or later. Norosky, Yarich, Soltys, Nechwediuk, Polson, Lewandowski, Roth, Souchuck, Ogradnik, Shewchuck, Procopchuk, Kowolchuck.
Does anyone recognize this family?

Re: Andrew and Eudokia MELNYCHUCK, Sandy Lake, Manitoba, Canada, from Monastyrok, Galicia Ukraine
Hi, Have you searched the Canada Census 1911,1916,1921 - for the family/s Searching Manitoba Vital Statistics Birth, Marriage , Death - does not find MELNYCHUK - perhaps a slightly different spelling - many of the Eastern European surnames were spelled differently - many times - by enumerators / officials etc who spelled what they heard Our ancestors may have not recognized the name spelled in English CH - can be CZ etc W may be V
Perhaps the Family Submitted family history / stories - to the Local History Book Project in the mid to late 1980's >

Hi, I have done searching of the cencus and am mostly interested in the Andriowski and Melnychuck surnames. All the others married into the family. I know what you mean about the different spelllings, you have to be a detective to figure it out. I have done amazingly well though. Thanks.
