Surnames: Steffansson Peisdottir Oliver
I know this may be a very long shot, since this post was almost 9 years ago, I am looking for information on:
Steffan Fridgjornsson B: Iceland 1855 immigrated to Canada, Gimli MB area 1877-ish. They were among some of the first Icelandic settlers in the area.
Children are listed as:
Oddur T Steffansson B: Sept 9, 1884
Then he is listed as widowed. I suspect his wife died of small pox or malnutrition those first harsh years.
Then there is another woman listed with him,
Sigridur Peisdottir B: 1862, Iceland.
then there are more children listed:
Larus H Steffansson B: April 3, 1888 (My grandfather)
Steffan Steffansson B: Sept. 18, 1889
Ingveldur Steffansson B: April 26, 1892
Gudnundar Steffansson B: September 19, 1899.

I suspect there were more children between them, but perhaps died. They are not listed.
Sometime, they changed their names. I think it was to become more naturalized, maybe there were issues with the names as the children were always "of" their father or "of" their mother. There does not seem to be any records of any name changes, perhaps they just took names.
In Larus H Steffanssons case, he changed his name to Larus (aka Lars) Oliver. His first cousin was Harry Oliver the hockey player for the Boston Bruins, and there was a Stanley Cup involved. I think Larus took this name because of his celebrity cousin.
I am hoping that one of your books may have some information about the family.
Thank you so very much, Happy New Year to you.
I hope you get this message.
Jan (Janis) Oliver

I have Swedish relatives who arrived in Quebec July 1 1888.According to passenger lists their destination was Emerson. Could you take a peek and see if they are mentioned at all.

Anders Petterson and wife Albertina Wilhelmina supposedly bound for Emerson (I presume Manitoba)There is also a Hedda (or Rose)and Adolf Norberg who also seem to be connected to the above mentioned persons. Could you have a look for them too.
Thanks in advance for any info you may find.

I understand that there may be details on my ancestors George and Jane {McLean] Armstrong within "Memories Along the Badger Revisited". Their son Hugh James was my great-grandfather.
I'd be greatful if you could copy or transcribe anything about them to me.
