The proper spelling Hoye The ones you are researching is my Grandmothers family. She made a trip to Ontatio in the 1940s and got this information. The Hoye family are buried in a town in Ontario called Elora His name was James Hoye and her maidan name was Mary Ann Grantham. It is true Elizabeth Lizzie as she was known was never adoped but went uner the name of Hay as that is where she was found only hours old. They raised her as there own with the two girls of there own MAria and Ellen. Lizzie and William Grantham are buried in Gladstone Cemetary. She was never put on the stone But her Daughter and William are.

I am searching for any descendents of Thomas Franklin (b. abt 1813, England, d. 4 Sep 1895 in Rockwood) and his wife Mary Foulds, (b. 11 Apr 1830, St. John's, MB; d. abt 1867, MB)

It is known that several of his son Jacob's (b. Feb 1863 at St. James, d. 26 Dec 1909 in Rockwood) children remained in the general area of Rockwood. Jacob was married to Mary Ann Jane Taylor (b. 3 Jun 1868 at St. Andrews, m. 4 Jul 1892, Rockwood, death unknown).

Their children were: NOTE: all born in Stony Mountain

Herbert Thomas Franklin, b. 15 May 1893, d. 18 March 1954
Howard Francis Franklin, b. 28 Nov 1894
Ida Caroline Franklin, b. 26 Jun 1897
Joseph John Franklin, b. 14 Jul 1899
William Benjamin Franklin, b. 30 Mar 1901
George C. Franklin, b. abt 1905 (nothing more is known of him)
Marvel Frances Franklin, b. 18 Aug 1907

All of the children, except for George C. married and had families (I have a fair amount of data on them).

I descend from Mary Foulds, through her 1st marriage. I would very much like to correspond with any descendents of these Franklin's. I am more than willing to share the genealogical information I have collected on the family.

Hello! Thanks for your reply to my posting!

My sister Judy and I have been searching for descendants of Richard N for some time, and I believe you have recently been in contact with her via Rootschat & her Ancestry.co.uk family tree? As you will have seen my posting was back in 2011, so are pleased that we have made contact after so much searching and hitting brick walls.

Im not sure what Judy has told you so far about our connection to RN. We too have been mystified as to whether he and Nellie ever got married as we have found nothing in the UK BMD records.

According to the Canadian Immigration form 30A we have Richard arrived in Canada in 1923 but stated that he had been there before from 1910 to 1911, 12 or 13 (the date on the form appears to be overwritten)
There are also passenger lists we have found which shed some light on their travels, plus the Isle of Man census for 1911. We have thus been able to piece together something of Richard & Nellie's lives but there are still a lot of question marks!
We can share with you these snippets of info and documents, and what else we know and look forward to hearing more from you!

As i can't PM you on Ancestry you can email me via the Contact link at the bottom of the pages on my website www.cavillconnections.co.uk and then i can send you my main email address and send you more of what we have unearthed!
Kind regards,
Richard

Thank you Karen - that is exactly the kind of information I have been trying to find. I don't have a physical copy of the directory, but have been pouring over the pages through the internet. Do you know of a link to a 1954 copy of the Henderson Directory. I was able to find up to 1953, but nothing past that.

Hi - thanks for your response. I found my biological siblings and have met 21 of my mother's siblings. My mother married Dec 1954 when she was pregnant with me. I was born 2 weeks later and taken at birth as my mother was putting me up for adoption. No-one knew about her pregnancy until the day she went into labour and she asked her sister to take her. She never did see me and the adoption was not something she wanted. Her husband insisted I be put up for adoption as I was not his child. So I understand the details surrounding the adoption and why. I was able to get non identifying information regarding my family through the Winnipeg Post Adoption Registry. I actually this past two weeks to get a copy of my adoption record but it is sealed. Even though I have found everyone (but my father) without written consent I cannot access and this is not possible as my biological mother is deceased.

I am presently trying to find out what highschool she attended and what highschool my biological father may have attended. I know where she lived with her parents in Winnipeg and her subsequent place of residence and have been scouring the pages of the Henderson Directories trying to find clues. I do know that my biological father received a football scholarship I am at a loss on how to figure out through what highschool or post secondary school.

I have spoken to one of my mother's three sisters. I am to speak with the other two this weekend, as well as her brother. Hopefully something will come of that.

Again thanks for your reply and suggestions. Greatly appreciated.
Looking for Birth Father

My mother, Erma (a.k.a. Irma, Elsie) Gail Johnston (nee Evanowich) was engaged to be married when she became pregnant. It is believed that the man she married (Eric Johnston - December 18, 1954) was not my father which is why he insisted I be put up for adoption. We believe the other man she was very serious about at the time is my father. I was born January 4, 1955, adopted February 14, 1955 and my mother then moved to Edmonton with her new husband. She had three other children with Eric Johnston - Randall, Darren and Colleen. She lived there until her death November 8, 1997 at the age of 63. At the time of her death, she had registered with the Post Adoption Registry in an attempt to find me. She did tell her daughter about me who resumed the search upon her death.

I also registered with the Post Adoption Registry and found my biological siblings in February 2000, just 3 years after my mother's death. At the time I learned that my mother, and a brother had both passed away within 2 months of each other. I have a sister, and another brother with whom I am in constant contact.

It is not known if my biological father knew about me or not. Or if he knew but told I was not his, thought my mother kept me when she married and moved to Edmonton.

I recently was provided with a photograph of the man my biological siblings believe is my father. We are able to make out the first name (Francesco), but cannot make out the surname. I have posted the picture below as well as the flip side of the photo with the note he penned to my mother to show his handwriting. We are frantically trying to find this man in the hope that he is still alive and receptive to a reunion so that I can finally know one of my biological parents. If still alive, I am guessing he would be in his 70's.

If you knew what high school he went to you might be able to find a year book in the school library or the resource room after contacting the high school first. The question is did he go to high school here in Winnipeg or some other town in Manitoba? If that was his senior class picture what year might that have been? If he lived in Winnipeg he would be listed in the Henderson's Directories from the time he turned 18. Hard to search without a surname though. Did you get any other clues for him like where was he living, what were his parent's names, where did he work? I don't think there is any central depository in Winnipeg that holds all of the school yearbooks. I think the individual schools would have a copy for each year but other than that the only other copies would be the ones the students themselves bought.

I saw your post and wonder if it wouldn't be a good idea to track down the siblings of your Mother. If there were brothers or sisters they might know about the events surrounding the marriage of your Mother and your birth. I know it is a long shot but it is possible that the story was passed down in some way from your Mother's siblings to their children. I also wonder if getting your adoption records might shed some light on why you were given up for adoption. If your Mother's parents or her husband's parents were still alive they might have some knowledge. Too bad the writing isn't clear for the picture but maybe somebody may recognize his face or find it in an old high school year book if he was from Winnipeg. I wish you luck.

A recent search of the cemetery itself located the markers for the sons but not for the father. Is thee a separate record of interment that might shed some light on this? The service would have been conducted by the Methodist or United Church.

Hello, more on Samuel Sturton and his son Ainsworth. Samuel wrote several pamphlets on wild flowers in the Quebec area and delivered a talk to the Literary and Historical Society on December 19, 1860. Google the Morrin Centre in Quebec City and his name as author appears under historical documents. The text is also on the internet, along with his maps. Then--a shocker--his son Ainsworth was involved in an accidental poisoning of a customer at their drug store in Quebec City. Long accounts appear about this on the net, written by contemporary doctors, in 1865. After this, son Ainsworth moved north to the Saguenay, and Samuel moved west. Must have been a terrible shock to the family.
