Portage la Prairie, anyone living there know Burkes?

Surnames: Burke Bourke
Hi,
I am looking for an unknown grandfather. My grandmother, (nee Burke) was born in Portage la Prairie in the 1930s and moved to Ontario in the early 1950s (perhaps pregnant when she moved?) I'm trying to find leads as to who living in/from Portage la Prairie might have knowledge of the Burke/Bourke family at that time. I can provide a few more details that I have to those who might have information.
Not sure any other way to go about finding an unknown grandfather, any suggestions are welcome.

Many thanks,
Kezia

Hi Kazia ,Things were very different in those days - secrets kept - sometimes even from family -The only one who could honestly answer is your grandmother,
People/neighbours if they knew of a pregnancy - might make assumptions - [people do that ]
Pregnancies happen - when romantic promises are made - or females are taken advantage of - by friend - or someone just passing through -
If there was a pregnancy and a child born. Your Grandmother might have named the father on the Registration of birth - although at one time the father had to acknowledge being the birth father - before he allowed his name to be used - some don't want to accept responsibility.
