Hi - Are you still interested in Williscroft connection in Gladstone? I have the Gladstone History book and there is a small write-up about William and Benjamin Williscroft. If you don't already have the info, I would be happy to send it.

Carol

Sorry to be so long in replying - you caught me at a very busy time. I checked for your Cleavers and Hoopers - lots on the Hoopers, large family in the Woodside area, still one family living in Gladstone today. Nothing about Cleaver except that he was married to one of the Hooper girls. Starts with George and Eliz. Hooper family. Sons George (Jack) Jr. and Robert (married to Anna Lambert) and daughters Alice (Mrs. H. Gardiner), Amy, (Mrs. Cleaver), Mary, (Mrs. T.A. Mayor) and Eliz. (Mrs. Matthew Loan, then Mrs. Hollings Mayor) There are write-ups on all the children of Robert and Anna Hooper. If you want anything more get back to me and I will see what I can find.

Linda, thank you for the information!
I will take you up on your offer, as anything you find will be great for me.
I notice that you have "Amy" as mrs. Cleaver--her name was Emma, but maybe that was a second name, or a derivative of Emma.
She and James Cleaver were my Grandparents, but I do not remember too much of the family, having been born after he died and she was badly scalded and her mind went and she spent her remaining years in Brandon nursing home(I was not allowed to see her due to my young age, and her dementia.)
Anything you can find, I would very much appreciate.
I do have their burial place(Portage) and where in England they were from, but do not know much of their history in Canada, especially the Hooper siblings of Emma. Thank you for the kind offer and
I wait in anticipation , regards, Carol Cacciapuoti(Cleaver)

Hi Gloria,
In a local history book I find a Donald and Maude McLeod who moved to the Golden Stream District in 1942-43. Sons Arthur, Cecil and Gerald.

Also in the Golden Stream District I find a John McLeod family who came here in 1898. Wife's name is not mentioned although it is stated she was a Clayton. Children Elizabeth, Margaret, Agnes and Bill.

Are either of these McLeods the ones you are looking for. More information would be helpful.

Surnames: CAREFOOT, GRANTHAM
What information might you have for the following people:

William Andrew CAREFOOT married Margaret May GRANTHAM

at WESTBOURNE at Gladstone Manitoba. I found the above in the Manitoba Vital Statistics.

William Andrew Carefoot was born in Collingwood Township, Grey County, Ontario the son of John Carefoot and Alexandrina Scobie.

Margaret was the daughter of Washington Grantham.

Four of the seven children of William and Margaret were born at Gradstone from 1907 until at least 1916.

What information do you have on the above families.

They later returned to the Meaford area of Ontario.

Hi Ted,
There is lots of information in the local history books about the Carefoot and Grantham families. There is a history of the William A. Carefoot family (submitted by Sheldon Carefoot), a history of the John James and Isabella Carefoot family (submitted by Alexia Smith - any relation?) and a history of the Mervon James Carefoot family (submitted by Thelma Carefoot - who happens to be my husband's aunt. If you want it all it might be easier to photocopy and send by mail. There is also scads of stuff on the Granthams - they were among one of the first families to move to the Gladstone area back in 1871-2 when the first settlers started coming. Please feel free to email me - I think my email address appears if you click on my name. If you send your address I will send what I can find. If you just want specific answers to some questions then we can continue on this board.

Best regards,
Linda
