My grandfather, George Lyons (and twin Louis) was born in Gladstone in 1886 to John James Lyons and Margaret McCrae (whose mother was a Hyndman and related by marriage to the Glenn's and Kerr's). He enlisted in WWI in Brandon but after the war took a homestead in Star City, Sask. It seems the whole clan (McCrae, Hyndman etc) moved at once to the Palestine area of Manitoba from Grey Co, Ont. in the early 1870s. Does anyone have any information about these families. I have never been able to track a date of death for John J. Lyons but I know he is buried in Manitoba. Marg
McCrae Lyons died in Sask and is buried there. J J Lyons was supposed to have been crippled in a wagon incident and had to walk with 2 canes.
