I have a letter from 1898 and it's envelope from Robert Beatty to his brother, Hamilton Beatty in Michigan. The envelope has Canadian stamps, and the postmark appears to be GLADS, then MAN. At the top of the letter it says Gladstone.

I would love to hear from anyone that can help to shed some light on this ancestor of mine. Not sure how or when he arrived in Canada.

I found a Robert Beatty in a Gladstone History book. It says he was born in Monaghan County, Ireland in 1858 and came to Canada in 1891. I can relay the rest of the info if this is the right Robert Beatty.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Coming from Monaghan, Ireland would be from the right location, although the date of birth is later than what I would have believed.

I am quite interested in any further information you might be able to provide. I don't believe that there could have been that many Robert Beatty's in those parts at that time, so it would still seem likely that there is some sort of a connection.

Thanks,

Bruce

Hi, I am trying to connect the Canadian ancestors of Robert Beatty to the US. I have no access to the Canada records, unless I want to pay an arm, le, etc. for them. (OOOOHHHH< I can hear those violins, HAHAHA!)
I know nothing about the Beatty bunch but Robert was born in Canada and what I can read in other messages, they might have come from England. (JUST Guessing)
My Robert Beatty married Maria Susan Van Hoozer and their daughter, Mary Jane Beatty was born on Apr 30, 1836 in Canada. She married Levi Thomas Milligan whose birth was Jul 1835 in Canada and he died in 1904 in Leveland, Cuy7ahoga, Ohio. I am trying to trace them from Canada to OHIO.
Levi and Mary's children are Lily May Milligan (my lIne)
Louisa A., Roobert W. and Jennie. I would be interested in the letter's content to family names and who he writes about, if any? Thanks, Joan

I should really be working but got side tracked on this. I have an Uncle Robert Beatty who I haven't seen in years who was a farmer in Helstone and last I heard was living in Gladstone. If he is alive he would be in his 80s. I believe his wife was Marge and he had a son who's name I have forgotten and a daughter Evelyn, He does have one brother Wesley still living in the Brandon area, Previously deceased were his sister Peggy, brother Jack and my father Clarence Richard

He was I believe the 3rd son of John and Evelyn Beatty, Ne Crawford both of whom I believe immigrated from Ireland and farmed in the Helstone area for many years.
