Thanks Judy and Stella,

I have not been able to find a marriage certificate for him in the state of WA. I was hoping he had gone up to Victoria, like he did for his 1st marriage.
He is in the 1930 census in Grays Harbor- but Grays Harbor did not have a marriage certificate for him.
Thanks!!

My grandfather - Martin (Matt) Hynes married Maud on July 4th 1917 in Victoria, British Columbia.

Maud was 16 years old at the time. They were both living in Pierce County, WA and so I was surprised to find this out. But anyways, I was wondering how I would get more infomation on this or is there a way to get a copy of the certificate.
thanks,

I QUIZZED HER ABOUT IT, THIS WAS ONLY A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO: SHE FINALLY RELENTED AND SAID WELL THEY ARE JUST A BUNCH OF OLD PAPERS OF MY FATHERS. I TOOK THEM HOME AND BEGAN TO GO THROUGH THEM A FEW DAYS LATER. THERE IS MUCH OF THE HISTORY OF THE TYLLIA FAMILY AND NORTH PORT, WASHINGTON IN THAT MATERIAL. IF YOU EVER HAVE THE INCLINATION TO COME AND VISIT, IT IS ONLY ABOUT A TWO HOUR DRIVE, AND WE WOULD BE GLAD TO MEET YOU. WE COULD GO THROUGH THAT STUFF.

THE ONE MYSTERY IS THE LADY, I THINK HER MARRIED NAME WAS MADDEN WHO DIED IN SPOKANE,AND SHE MAY HAVE BEEN ANOTHER BRANCH OF THE TYLLIA FAMILY. SAY HELLO TO YOUR PARENTS FOR ME.

TOM JONES, YOUR SECOND COUSIN

She was left destitute and impoverished, with three boys (now all long time deceased).
WOW, Judy...you are amazing! Thank you many times over for this!
Thelma Victoria Haslam (nee: Duckworth) supposedly married the second time to a Mr. Ferris, but could have married again if she parted from him either through divorce or his death. I do not know when she was born, her first husband James V. Haslam was born 1917, she may have been older (born abt 1907). Wilma could not be her mother as she was born abt 1894, but might have been a step mother, this could explain why Wm H. Duckworth was so much older born abt 1874. This Thelma Bauman is definately worth my time to research, can't leave any stone unturned......

Hi Stella, thanks so much for the info. I do have the obit for James V. Haslam, and you found the right guy. However, Thelma divorced him on April 01, 1949 (059 0471) in Victoria and thereafter James had no contact with Thelma or their daughter Patricia Haslam. Thelma Haslam (nee: Duckworth) remarried sometime after to a Mr. Ferris (do not know where) and was thought to have resided in Coquitlam. Do not know if Patricia was adopted Ferris or whatever happened to her.

Hi Stella, wow that was quick...lol..
It is sad that James never kept in touch for the benefit of their daughter Patricia, he was a heavy drinker then and perhaps Thelma had enough and for the sake of the child embarked on a new chapter of her life. I am hopeful that a marriage announcement can be found and that it gives more info about Thelma like who her parents were. I have little otherwise to go on. The directories are a very good suggestion....Thanks.

Does anyone know anything about the Pearsons [Joseph and Ann Elizabeth] who had an Antique Store called "The Old House" at 1038 Fort Street until their deaths in 1979? Joseph died March 2, 1979 at age 89; Ann a few days after on March 11 at age 80. There was a terrible house fire in their home at 1256 Beach Drive. Apparently they also had a threate [not sure which]. They had no children and left much of their estate to charities like the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria [which also got a large collection of their china]. Any stories about them would be appreciated. But it is PHOTOS that are especially sought!

Hi, Sorry this was not helpful.I find that though there are divorces - and separations for years - at some point family connections may be made - thought this may have been a case of parents divorcing - but the child, children - still in touch with a parent as an adult.
Wishing you much Luck with your research .
Hi Judy
They were Arthur Norton Hickling and Harold Archer Hickling Churchill (sometimes Harold was spelt Harald) We believe that Harold was engaged to be married but have no further information. The information about the gas station is new, so thank you. A book about Clifton college in England is about to be published and the three brothers feature strongly in this due to their Rugby exploits.
