Re: BAKER BRICK & TILE CO., VICTORIA, B.C.
Gloria, I obtained about 1000 bricks that had been collected by a Vancouver long shoreman on his lunch breaks from a number of old demolished houses. He collected them about 20 years ago. I live in a 1905 house and wanted old brick for a patio. In the collection there is about 20 different marked bricks.

Re: BAKER BRICK & TILE CO., VICTORIA, B.C.
This is quite an old conversation but I just stumbled across it today! My gr. gr. grandfather Seymour Tranter worked for the Baker Bros Brick Co. from about 1890-1905. I just got 2 Baker Bros bricks this year from someone who was re-doing their patio in their backyard and knew someone would want them. There was a LOT of them. There are many collectors in Victoria of old things! Jacquie

That company was owned by my grandmother's family. She was Vera Baker, her father was John I believe. It was located on Douglas St. They also owned Victoria Ice Company

Re: BAKER BRICK & TILE CO., VICTORIA, B.C.
Hi Just come across this board and realize this is real long shot but am trying to track down my grandfather 's time in Vancouver Island.Have traced him and his wife to Vancouver from the UK circa 1910 according to the 1921 census he is listed as a brick labourer in Field Apartments, his name was William Henry Greenwood and his wife was Winifred Mary Greenwood . If anyone can help me with this it would be appreciated as I've hit a "brick wall" sorry for that ! Regards Adrian
