Surnames: cooper ayres soper smith and wikkett
Both sides of my family are cornish. My grandad came to victoria in 1920.He was a cooper. His wife florence was a soper. Her mother sister and brother also settled in victoria as well as a step grandad. The names are wikett and smith.my gr grammas line was ayres and cock.I have done research so I know these names were from cornwall.Cooper is not that common in cornwall so I assume they migrated from somewhere else way back.I really would be happy if the Island got some recognition for our cornish kin.If you know of any good web sites along this line I would be grateful. The cooper side had two brothers one went to australia and the other to the us.But unless I get the cornwall censes listing their names it is hopeless.Grandad was born in 1885 and his siblings on the 1881 censes were sisters julie maude and ellen. The 1920 censes wont be released for another 20 tears or so I am told.Anyhoo feel free to email me. thanks for replying barb
