Isabella passed on the Island but lived more or less on the Saanich Peninsula.
I am trying to find the son called George? aka RED, the fisherman
he also lived in Richmond BC
I am not even sure if George is his real first name but that is what I was told.
I know he passed away a few years ago but have nothing on him except family conversation.
His sister Mary Wilson McIntosh married Fred Waters, lived in Sidney BC

Hello!

Isabella's 1958 death certificate (attached) is signed by her son "G McIntosh" of 582 Brethour Avenue in Sidney. In the 1955 Sidney directory, the last one available online, he is listed "George G McIntosh" of 582 Brethour Avenue. I lived on Brethour Avenue a few years ago but it's a much shorter road now so 582 no longer exists. Anyway, he was definitely George.

So far I've not been able to find any death record for George but the BC Archives only goes to 1991. I'll try and search for obituaries and other information about the family and will post again if I find anything.

It appears all the family was buried at Royal Oak Cemetery so you could contact them to see if George is also buried there. Here's the email of the person at Royal Oak who deals with grave locations and other information:

I'm also attaching his dad's and sister's death records in case you don't have them.

Cheers,

Soosi

Surnames: McINTOSH, DEAN, DAVIS
Image 1 is the 1984 BC Death Registration for another daughter, Margaret Bain McINTOSH who was married to (and divorced from) Elwin Lloyd DAVIS. The informant is her son; the signature looks like E L Davis of Surrey, BC.

Margaret McINTOSH was born in Edmonton in 1921. George McINTOSH is not with the Thomas McINTOSH family in the 1921 Census (image 2, line 13).

thank you,
I did find a George D in the Royal Oak burial records. Could be him as middle name may be Dean, makes sense.
I also have a record that he lived on Northlawn Terrace, Sidney 1965-1968 with Mrs Louise(probably wife).
He was the youngest from what I was told so would have been born after 1921 census.
thanks again

Hello!

The "George D" buried in Royal Oak is definitely not your George. I'd already checked him out and confirmed he was not your George. Yours was always "George G" in the directories and other places.

Looking at all his listings in the directories I was able to determine that he worked for the BC Coast Steamship Service from 1944 to 1953 and rose from Seaman to Master. I found a lot of crew lists he was on and am attaching a couple of them. On one, in 1951, he had to give his middle name: George Gunning McIntosh. He also made a trip to Scotland in 1949. Around 1953/54 he left the BCCSS and became a fisherman. That information led me to the following:

George Gunning McIntosh was born 3 June 1927 in Victoria, BC. He died 1 July 1998 in New Westminster, BC due to complications from lung surgery.

He married Anna Louise Green who was born in 1926 in Daysland, Alberta. They eventually divorced and both remarried. George married Shirley MacDougal in Richmond, BC in 1985. Shirley died in 1989. George and Anna Louise had three children:

1. Vernon Dale McIntosh born 1946 in Sidney. He died in 1965 in Chathem, New Brunswick as the result of an accident. He's buried In Royal Oak Cemetery, Victoria.

2. Kenneth George McIntosh born 1948 in Sidney. He married, and divorced, Sandra Black. They had two children: Duane Kirk McIntosh and Kenneth Stephen McIntosh both born in Sidney.

3. June Isabel McIntosh born 1952 in Sidney. She married David Earl Beattie and they had three children: Tammi Lynn Beattie born in Sidney, Annette Elisabeth Beattie born in Smithers, BC and Mark David Beattie born in Kamloops, BC.

Hope that's more help.

Cheers,

Soosi
