I new parents of Gladys McGuiness who married Cameron Benvie Anderson 8 July 1950 probably Vancouver,B.C.
I am hoping their marriage license would give her parents names. Thank you

Marriges are considered Public Record from 1852 -1933 -
the 76 year after the event.

The Registration of Marriage - may be available from the Govt of British Columbia - Vital Statistics Dept - the cost $50 -not returned.

The Marriage Date - July 8 1950 - possibly Vancouver
In that time frame - people often published a marriage announcement - in the classified section of the newspaper -
Some with little information - others with family names - names of attendants etc - name of church- etc.

NEWSPAPER - MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENTS - in Classifieds
On Social Pages.
May be something to consider.
At that time - there was the Vancouver Sun - Daily Province Newspaper - also perhaps the News Herald

Announcements - of a coming marriage were sometimes mentioned.
Marriage Announcements - were sometimes published - a number of weeks - after the event.

I am the only one left in the family and really would like to get on to Gladys' research.

Hi, The Newspapers are Vancouver Sun as well Province Newspaper.
The Vancouver Public Library - has newspapers in their collection. Perhaps making a request to them would be helpful.
Unfortunately - at this time I am not able to help - I have family commitments - that have not allowed me any time to get away to libraries etc.

There are Volunteers - at Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness - Victoria/Vancouver Island - who have access to the Provincial Archive - the archive holds newspapers from across the Province - including the Vancouver Sun,Province.
