I'm hoping someone out there might have access to a newspaper article about this tragic accident that claimed my cousin's life. He was married and 33 yrs old at the time that the tragic accident took place when the falling of rock struck him and crushed his skull and face.

1945 Annual Report of the Minister of Mines - Province of British Columbia, page A143,coal mine

The fatal accident to Harold Travis, miner, Michel Colliery, on 1945Jun14, resulted from a fall of roof on a long wall machine cut face. He was instantly killed. There was a distance of 25 feet untimbered along the face line at the point where this accident occurred, although there was an adequate supply of timber available to him within 40 feet from where he was killed.

This is all the information that I have on this accident.

Can you tell me the ancestry of Harold Travis. I am looking for information about Jane Travis who was either part or full Native died in 1939 in Michel. Also, Marlene Marie Travis born March 13, 1938, and her father who was named George Travis and died in an accident in 1945 or 1946.

Sorry to disappoint but Jane TRAVIS who died in Michel BC in 1939 was born in England and had British ancestry on both her parents' sides.

She and her husband Joseph TRAVIS were married in England and had 10 children, including Harold listed above ... they did not have a son named George :(
