On 22 April 1964, Alfred Eric Torikka, 61 years old, was buried in the Old General Cemetery in Cranbrook, in the East Kootenay region of British Columbia. An employee of Crestbrook Lumber until September 1963, he had died in Canal Flats on the 19th of April.
Alf Torikka was a native of northern Sweden, born into a Finnish-speaking family in Luppio, Sweden, in 1903. He had lived in Canal Flats for eight years and was a resident of Canada since 1924.
Present at Alf Torikka's burial in Cranbrook were his brother Axel, who lived in Vancouver, and a woman, possibly in her forties, accompanied by two small children, a boy and a girl.
