Scheck confusion

I think I have been looking for information based on misinformation! I've been looking for John Scheck, married to Helen Scheck with a daughter Eva Scheck born in 1910.

I think the Scheck's I am looking for are Adam (b. 1888, Russia, d. 1972, Dawson Creek) and Elizabeth (b. 1889, d. 1966, Dawson Creek). Children include Adam (b. 1905), Elizabeth (b. 1908) and Eva (b. 1910).

This family is listed in the Battleford SK 1911 Census and I think the Eva is my Grandmother however, her month of birth on the census states March and the information I have is Sept. 1910.

If this information is included in anyone else's family history, I'd really like to hear from you.

Hi Kimberley,

I will be at the Library one day this week. If no one has helped - I can take a look at the Death registratons for Adam and Elizabeth SCHECK.
Searching the Provincial Archive of B.C. Marriages: 1859-1930 There is No marriage for the daughter Elizabeth SCHECK- born 1908, Adam SCHECK born 1905, Eva SCHECK born 1910 - in British Columbia.
Cheers, Stella

No, you won't find the marriage registrations. Adam died in a house fire when he was young and Eva was born in Alberta, married in Saskatchewan.

I managed to track down a distant cousin who has put great effort into putting together a history of his family which included the parts of mine that were a mystery.

If you happen to find an obit for Adam Scheck and or Elizabeth (Wagner) Scheck, I would really appreciate it.

Hi Kim, Searched the Vancouver Papers - sometime out of town obits are published here as well. - with 0 results.
Unfortunately I don't have access to out of town papers.
Funeral Homes may take personal information for death registrations - they may also take information for Obituaries. you could contact them for possible obit.
I am sending you transcripts of the death regs.
Cheers, Stella

Hello Scheck family,
My name is Kate Lowes. I am an amature genealogist working on the Treasured Chronicles project.
My interest in your family began in kindergarden when my best friend was a Scheck and recently it has flourished again while working on this project. Fransika and Philip Scheck were early settlers in the North Peace Region and I started putting together a few notes on their family in hopes of finding living descendants to speak about the family.
As it turns out I am working with two living descendants (who are not old enough to be interviewed for our project) but will talk to their familes for some info.
These are my notes, I do not promise accuracy.

Adam Scheck: born 1867, died in 1947. Adam married Anna who was born in 1869. I wonder if Adam is a brother to Philip.

Philip & “Little Granny” Fransika Scheck: They came to Canada in 1909. Philip died around 1913. They arrived with 7 of their 10 children. Phillip and Alex were the oldest and were already married with children:
-Phillip
-Adam Scheck b. 1888, died in Dawson Creek in 1972 at the age of 83. married Elizabeth b. 1889, died in Dawson Creek in 1966 at the age of 77. Had children Adam (1905)(died in a house fire), Elizabeth (1908) and Eva (1910), John, George, Matthew, Frances, (Francis may have married Joe Richter Jr.) Anne, Peter, Ray, Val (Val may have married a lady named Agnes)and Tom
-Alex & Anna had the following children: Manny (married Lucy Lohman),
-Elizabeth married George Ollenberger
-Mike: Mike Jr married Eva Spirling in January 1946. They had three sons:
-Terry, Edmond & Louis.
-Fransika married Adam Wagner in Saskatchewan, their family then moved to the North Peace.
-Katy: Married Val Ollenberger and is now in Dawson Creek.
-John Scheck married Helen Wagner: John was born abt 1888 and Helen abt 1889. Had a daughter named Eva.
Elizabeth- Married a V. Sperling. (May have had a daughter named Mary Sperling who married Al Richter, son of Joe Richter.)

Frances Ollenberger married Vince Richter,( son of Joe Richter Sr.) I don't know which family Frances was in.

I found my initial information in a book by Georgina Murray Keddell called Peace Lovin' Folk on page 59 titled "Little Granny"

Look forward to hearing from anyone interested in this family..

ValScheck is my uncle, married to my aunt, Winona Hollingshead. In fact, today they are celebrating his 80th birthday with a surprise party in Summerland.I met his father Adam years ago when he visited Whitehorse and many of his brothers and sisters. I believe only Anne,Tommy, Justine and Val are the only ones left of that generation. Vals e-mail is v1823@telus.net
