My husband was born in Albany, Oregon in 1944. He has his original birth certificate. (his search started in 1989). His birthmother gave her birthplace as Greenwood, BC. She was about 22 in 1944. She used a false name and a very common one and told the adoptive parents that she was not going to use her real name. It was a private adoption. The address she gave was in Portland, OR and it was never an address. We went to Greenwood in 2001. Wrote to a lot of people from there. Most are dead now, including other family members that knew anything about it . I have been researching all females born in Greenwood that came across the border , especially in the 1940's. Decided to put another message on this board. Have had many on boards since 1997. So far, nothing has come about from Greenwood.Have researched Portland city directories and the hospital has no records from that era. Plus, she may have given birth under the adoptive mother's name. Newspaper says he was born at home to his parents, which was a lie but a common thing to do in those days. If you have ideas, write to me at my e-mail address.
