Alf
Came across your message. I took a quick look in a book called "Merritt & Nicola Valley, An Illustrated History" written by Nicola Valley Museum and Archives Association published by Sonotek of Merrritt. It has a couple of pictures of the Moore family including John, Samuel, Violette, Matilda and a J. N. Moore. J.N. Moore is in a picture of a Lacrosse Team in the late 1890's. The book states that Samuel and John Pearcy Moore settled at Nicola Lake on July 1, 1868. Started Beaver Ranch. The youngest brothers joined them, followed by parents Margaret and John Sr. along with the fourth brother, Benjamin. After the 1900, many small and large ranches were added to the Guichon holdings including Beaver Ranch of the Moore family at the head of Nicola Lake and the hotel and general store at Quilchena.
Hopes this helps. My family is also for the Nicola Valley area. I have driven past Nicola Lake countless times. Quite a pretty place.
The address for the following was on the back of the book.
