Seeking information on Sarah (Corbett) and William Martin of Princeton, B.C. Sarah Corbett was born on May 19, 1851 in West Garafraxa, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. She married William Martin in Arthur, Wellington County, Ontario on Feb 26, 1875. They had seven children who were all born in Arthur. They were: Janet, Isabelle, William, Mary, Sarah, Lillie, and Roy Leslie. The family moved to Princeton, B.C. after 1879. Sarah Martin died on May 29, 1941 and William Martin died on November 26, 1932. Looking for family descendants, pictures of Sarah Martin and where they are buried. Any help would be appreciated.

Sylvia,
I am also interested in the family of William Martin & Sarah Corbett. My interest is on the Corbett line. I would love a copy of the photo of William & Sarah Martin and their house, if possible. Can you send me digital copies?
I live in Halifax, NS. Is there anything I can help you with here?
Joyce

Hi Joyce,

I will certainly get you a picture of the Martin's, but it might take up to 3 weeks. It's the only picture I know of them in Princeton and it's in a local book on Princeton's pioneers. It was out of the library last week when I was after it.
My daughter lived in a very old house near Martin's lake. Her landlord told her either that house or a close by abandoned house was the Martin's. I'm doing some research for a booklet I'm making so will be trying to find the answer to which house was the correct one. When I find out I'll send you a picture of that too.
Thanks for the offer of help but I completed my genealogy a few years back and the whole darn lot of them were from England! Nothing too challenging at all! Lol
I'm also trying to get in contact with the local cemetery to find out where some of these pioneers were buried. If I find the Martin's would you like a photo of their grave?

Cheers,

Sylvia You can e-mail me if you think of anything else.

Hi Joyce,

I've got the picture of the Martin's for you. If you could send me your e-mail address to bshurd@telus.net I'll get it sent off to you.
I inquired at the archives as to where William and Sarah are buried and strangely enough it is not at the local cemetery like I suspected, but rather at their farm in a family plot. The problem though is the farm probably hasn't existed since the 50's. Some of it was subdivided and the bulk of it belongs to the ranchers. When my daughter lived there we never saw any sign of a family graveyard. I would like to enquire around and see if it can't still be located and marked for future generations.
Cheers,

Sylvia
