Surnames:
Cherbo is my maiden name. It belonged to my grandfather, Sam Cherbo, who left Romania in the early 1900s with his wife, Sofia. They settled in Chicago and had ten children. We also have relatives in France, but I'd never heard of a family member in Turkey.
Yes the family is Jewish.
