I am seeking to find out when a relative of mine died in New Westminster, BC. Her name was Doreen Cleary (Dora), she was born early 1900s, and the last address I have for her was #102 1001 6th Ave., New West, BC. I last had contact with her about 1980. I think she may have died Jan. 24, 1991, and is in Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver. It would be appreciated if the Directories could be checked to see how long she remained in the apartment on 6th Ave.
Any info anyone could provide would be greatly welcome.

I checked the directories and found F.H. and Dora in 1990 at that address. I will check the death in Jan 1991 this weekend.

Hi Judy, that would be great! I have confirmed that it is indeed my Dora Cleary in Mountain View Cemetery that was buried Jan. 24, 1991. She was Cremated, and died early January. She was about 82 years old. Maiden name Marxsen, born I think in Germany, arrived in Canada about 1913.
She married Francis H. Cleary (Pat) on September 21, 1942, Vancouver, if you have access to the older issues of newspapers a wedding/marriage announcement would provide me new info.

Sorry, came up empty on obituary and any marriage announcement. Maybe check with the cemetery if she died somewhere else and the cremains were placed in Mountain View.

Thanks Judy, really appreciate your taking the time to check for me. I have talked with the Mt. View cemetery folk and they have no additional info, other than it appears Dora died the beginning of January and her ashes were interred later on Jan. 24, 1991. Her address was still on 6th ave. when she died. Her obituary may have been in just a New Westminster paper, however, the family usually put obits in the Sun and Province. It might of been under Marxsen as her burial and funeral service were handled by her late brother, Herbert Marxsen.

Hi, Just a thought. When you spoke to the people at Mountain View Cemetery. Did you ask for the name of the Funeral Home in charge of arrangements?

The Funeral home sometimes takes charge of having an obituary published. They take the information - ask what papers the obit is to appear in - whether the obit is to also be published in out of town papers.
It is up to the person /family member/s to decide whether or not there will be an obit published.
