I am looking for more info about Keziah Pollard born in Clinton June 11, 1895. She married Pierre LeBourdais in Clinton on Apr 3, 1920. Who were her parents and when and where did she die? Any additional info appreciated.

I am a Polled, who's name changed from Pollard between 1891 and 1901, and I'm doing some genealogy on my family who come from Soham, Cambridge, England.

Just out of interest, I thought you might like to know that there is a Keziah mentioned in the 1851 census for Soham. She was 15 years old at the time, and her parents were William Pollard,40, Agric. Labourer and Susan Pollard nee Lane also aged 40.

Probably just a coincidence, but I thought I would let you know.

It may be a coincidence or they could be part of the same family. I have no info at this point to know whether my Keziah's family originally came to Canada from England. Thanks for the post.

This Keziah was a daughter of Keziah and ?Pollard, she later lived common law with a Harold Mainguy and is listed as Keziah Mainguy on her death registration, dying in Clinton (cannot remember when) you can check it out on the BC archives site

Your information is interesting. Keziah Pollard and Pierre LeBourdais supposedly had a daughter Pauline, but she called herself Mainguy. This makes me wonder if Keziah did marry Harold Mainguy at some point and Pauline changed her name to Mainguy?? Or perhaps she was Harold's daughter and not Pierre's?? Your info gives me a location and death date for Keziah but still it seems many questions :) Thanks.

Although I have no information about the names you seek my grandmother was born in Canoe Creek in 1888 and lived some of her early years in Clinton with the LeBourdais. When I was growing up I remember her friend Nora LeBourdais from Clinton who would come to our house and have wonderful stories about the past. My grandmother's maiden name was Lowther. Are you related to Nora?

Debbie: I am indeed related to Nora LeBourdais; she was my aunt. My father Donat (known as Don) was her older brother. I am thrilled to hear from someone who knew members of their family as they have all been dead now for many years. Nora never married and lived for a long time in Kamloops where she worked as a legal secretary. She moved down to North Vancouver to go into a seniors residence when she got frail and died in 1976 at age 87. I lived in Ontario then and only got to meet her once on a vacation visit to BC. Thanks for your remembrance!

Eleanor: I grew up in North Vancouver and my grandmother Jennie Lowther Beaton passed away in 1976 at the age of 88. I remember Nora well and remember her frequent stories about Steven Truscott and the book written by one of her relatives. I also remember her very heavy fur coat that my Dad would help her put on; it was such a weight for someone so frail, but she loved it. We went to Clinton about 4 years ago to poke around for information on the Lowther family as I was told that my ggrandmother had run the Hotel there at one time. No such luck, but lots of information on the LeBourdais. The same thing happened when we went to Quesnel, BC. The park out front of the Historical Society is called LeBourdais Park. The BC Archives is a good source of information and some 5 years ago when researching Lowther, Canoe Creek and Clinton I found the LeBourdais connection. I had no idea granny had known Nora for 87 years, so I included the LeBordais info in my research. Donat, Louis, Eleanor (Nora), and Pierre, their birth Microfilm no. are all here in front of me in my book. Connection is the fun part of genealogy. Good Luck with your research.

Hello, I was married to Louis LeBourdais in 1968. ( Grandson of the MLA Louis LeBourdais). My husband died in 1984 , but I well remembered Aunt Nora LeBourdais and have a family record that I made up with help from Eleanor LeBourdais ( wife of Donet of Toronto) and Maudie LeBourdais of Quesnel. This was in the 80's that I got the information.
Nora would talk of the Pollards and I think that Louis Sr. had a child by a Pollard and his name is Joe LeBourdais from Clinton.
I also named a son Joe LeBourdais who was born in 1982, not to confuse you if you check.
I met Nora and Mary LeBourdais in Williams Lake in the 70's and the illigitimate birth came forward then. I was the one who introduced them to Jeremie LeBourdais ( of the CEEDS group in 100 Mile House, now deceased).

I know Nora was a legal secretary in Lilloet and her fiance was a policeman who was shot in the line of duty and she never married. She lived her life as a spinster in Quesnel, then moved with the Jerry LeBourdais family to North Vancouver and her last few years were in Dunrovin Lodge in Quesnel. I think she would have died in the late 1970's.
