In the New Year I will have to figure out where i put the Solomon Creek information. However I think the family connection comes from Cadotte, Reekie, Flockhart or Darby.

My name is Brenda (my married name is Rishea) of Ontario, and I am married to Marc Rishea, (lest you confuse me with another Brenda Rishea who also lives in Ontario, and whose mother, Mary, just died this year).

I was doing some RISHEA family tree research today when I found your posting for Joseph Frederick Rishea. I have a fairly complete family tree for the Risheas going all the way back to the first ancestor to arrive in Quebec from France in the 1600s. IF you want to fill in your blanks, I'd be happy to help you do that.

The name was originally Richer-dit-Lafleche, but some families are named Lafleche, Fleche, Richer, or Rishea. The name was changed 5 times because you ancestors were illiterate and for every birth, marriage or death, the clerk wrote the name as he heard it sound.

Then on the left, click on "family tree" and find your ancestor, Joseph Frederick Rishea alphabetically.

Also, did you know that you have other relatives living in Alberta? (If you're still living there). The family names are Deborah and Michael Vesterfelt, and Dale Theresa Ross, the 3 children of Veronica Frances Rishea. We used to be in touch but Veronica may have passed away by now. She had moved into a retirement home and we lost touch years ago.

I use Family Tree Maker 2008 software, so if you wanted to merge files, it may be possible if you use this program as well.

Wondering if anyone would be able to help with any information regarding a Robert Samuel Marshall and Agnes Jane Ferguson.

I know that they lived in Edson, Alberta for many years and are both buried there in the Glenwood Cemetery.

I'm curious as to their Death Dates and any possible Children and any other information..

There was a Ludvig Fossheim who filed for a land grant in July 1917, a bit NE of Edson. Thoralf also applied for a land grant in that area.

Ludvig Fossheim, b 1888, enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in December 1917. He gave his home as Yates, which was a bit NE of Edson. Also note he named his birthplace & next of kin in Norway.

It’s my guess that Thoralf went to connect with that Ludvig.

Edson is located in Yellowhead County, AB. Here’s a map. These gents’ homesteads were located approximately where the line goes down between columns 17 & 16 and rows 54.

Can anyone help me find a family who emmigrated to Canada to became farmers.
The name is FOSSHEIM.

Toralf Eliassen Fossheim born in Jølster, Norway Sept. 27 1875 and Anne Sofie Pedersdtr. b. in Naustdal (Førde) Sept. 22 1881
They married June 16 1903 in Naustdal.
Maybe Toralf died 1973 and Anne Sofie d. 1936 (in Canada)

I don't know when they first emigrated to Canada, but here is perhaps Toralf and his two sons Peder and Sverre in 1927 arrived from Bergen to Canada - my be they have been visiting their family or my be that's the first time going ?

John Joseph HALL and family

Hello, anyone who is interested in Carrot Creek. I have, with the help of some wonderful people, managed to track a family down who in 1916 were at Carrot Creek.
I have been trying to track down the family of John Joseph Hall and his wife Daisy. and children, who in 1908 migrated from England. When they left they also left a son behind, a Vicrtor Maughan Hall who was later adpoted by a William and Jane Kirkby of Erlington Station. The hlp I have been given has shown the family going to Canada, and on the 1911 Census the family was Hall J.J., D.J. Wife, Dorothy daughter, Lucy, daughter, Craig [should be John Nicholas Craig],son, Fred, son, Desmond, son, Alfred son, [he was born ib Saskatchewan.On the 1916 Census, it has the family at Carrot Creek, Daisy had died [1913], and the family hadgrown by another daughter, Daisy, also Victor had joined them.
Victor,at sometime went back to England as I have his death certificate for 1999. Of the others, well, unless someone can recognise and of the names, I am at a dead end.
I do hope sonmeone can help me, I would like to make contact with the descendants of any of the family who may still be about.

Edson is a town in the Yellowhead district. There probably is a hospital there as that is the larger town between Jasper and Edmonton, and it is on the main rail line from BC east and west. You should post under the Yeallowhead board.

Am i right in thinking that Edson is an AB hospital? As well having a lot of CNR photos in the boxes I'm working on there are a number of patients at Edson, and I'm wondering if that would as a result of some kind of accident on the railroad?

The person the photos originally belonged to was a steel bridge engineer for many many years, and for much of it lived and worked in BC. (hence my attempting to post this msg to both lists... attempting!)

As I get them scanned I'm more than happy to post the links and see if anyone recognises any of the gentlemen in the Edson pictures. It'd be nice to put names to their faces.

There would be a birth registration - which would show names of parents etc.
Do you know your grandparents - living or deceased.?
If Deceased - the Death Registration - will show -personal information.
Obituaries - may show names and locations of other family members.
Marriage Registration for your Parents - will show - names of both sets of parents - including mothers maiden name - place of birth of parents etc - *there may be restrictions re obtaining same from Govt of Alberta -Vital Statistics Registry office - *Long form Registration has all the personal information - *Certificate is extract of basic information taken from registration.

Carrot Creek Alberta

I grew up with stories about the dirt floor shack in Carrot Creek AB, in which my father came into the world. When I was about 10 years old we went on a driving holiday - the highlights of which were a visit to said shack, by his best estimations, the town of LOVE and a visit to our allegedly namesaked town, Radway. I am looking for people who might know something about my family. My father, Kenneth Jean Radway just turned 72, strong as an ox and still very reluctant to share anything about his familial history.... any takers????

Mountain Park is now a ghost town outside of Jasper National Park. My great grandparents lived there for a number of years. It closed down in 1950. If you google it there are pictures of the area. Some families have gone in and restored the cemetary.

I am also a great-great grand-daughter of Harvey Mustard. His daughter Bessie was my great-grandmother. I think the Ray in the Picture is her younger brother and he was one of the outfitters mentioned in Archie's post regarding the outfitters of Mountain Park. Would you mind e-mailing me the pictures? They are taken at the homestead which is about 25 miles from my current home and across the road from where I grew up, near Spruce View, Alberta.
