I know your post is old but my father knew the Goodhands and Jack Carmichael as he was a close neighbor. Jack married Augusta Goodhand and they had one daughter, Charlotte. The story I remember is that a tree fell on Jack and he was killed when his daughter was young. His wife taught school for many years. I have a photo of Augusta and Charlotte with my aunt.

Hi Fawn, Re:
I live in Ontario so I m not sure who to call to find out who owns this plot or information on why he was put there, I wouldnt even know where to begin

Hi Re the above - Contact the Cemetery Office: - They will know date of death - date of burial.
Information re cost of cemetery plot - etc who paid etc - if they don't have all the information
The Funeral Home in Charge of Arrangements will know
Who paid for funeral Costs - etc.

They may have taken information for the Registration of Death / Long form Death Certificate
{Note - Information of the Registration of death - other than date of death / burial ] will only be as accurate as that known to the informant ]

Registrations of Marriage: Long Form Marriage Certificate - will show all personal information as required at the time. One of the more accurate documents - since the information comes directly from the bride and groom.
