Robert Blackwood Carruthers - according to his death certificate which is online at Nova Scotia Vital Statistics, he was born 04 Mar 1841 in New Annan, Colchester County, Nova Scotia. He died 11 Mar 1928 in River John, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, and his parents were William Carruthers and Mary Scott. He was widowed when he died, but you can also find his marriage online at the same site. We was married to Isabella Lang (or Laing) in New Annan. His father, William, was born about 1799 in Dumfries-shire, however, I have not yet found any concrete evidence of his parents or exact place of birth.

I am interested in the connection, as my 4th great-grandfather, James Carruthers, was born in Dumfries-shire as well, and I am still searching out his parents. I wonder if there is a connection.
