The information is given to the enumerator -usually by a family member /husband/father etc - and is as accurate - as they wish the information to be.{there is no check to see if information is correct]
It is also possible for the Enumerator - to make an error -in writing the information - or in hearing /spelling/understanding what is said.
Yes ! the transcriber could Mistake the J for an I
Some of the handwriting - is very difficult to read - some pages - are very faint - and difficult to read.
