The finding aids and indexes of the Alberta Genealogical Society list these;
Onesime COMEAU, 1858 - 1934, and Felicite COMEAU, 1861 - 1950, both in plot 1E of the St Emerence Catholic cemetery at Riviere Qui Barre.

Could Onesime be related to my great grandfather Edouard Comeau who was born in 1868 in Quebec, lived in the u.s. for a period of time, then moved to Alberta, at Ste. Emerence in the late 1800's. Edouard's wife was named Delima, and they had 7 children of which Philomene is my grandmother. I am currently trying to find which part of the u.s. they lived in.

I am writing for my friend who is Barb Comeault. Can you tell me where your family came from or any details. There could be a connection here. Thanks for your time. Regards Agnes

Onesime Comeau married my great grandfather's sister Marie Felicite Labonte. Marie was sister to Jerome Hieronymus Labonte/Labounty
|
The Labonte/Labounty family (as in Marie Felicite Labonte) ancestors were, of course, originally from France, then Quebec, and dispersed throughout North America. This included the US and western Canada. My grandmother's father Jerome Labonte lived in Kansas for a time before arriving in Alberta. My grandmother, Marie, married Joseph Amede Lessard (my grandfather) who was originally born and raised in Quebec but moved to Alberta and lived and worked in Oregon and British Columbia for brief periods. I have some sketchy references to both lineages that go back to the 1650's in France. For the Comeau family, I have little data but for Onesime's offsprings. If you want or have more information we can correspond.
