My gr gr granddad was Nathanial[Dan] Schincke. My gen info came from a collaboration of data collected by various family members. One thing that is consistently clear is that John Schincke was married to Charlotte Litke [sometimes spelled Leudke]. Names were often misspelt on records and handwriting is often illegible; but there was consistency in Litke...not Silke....never heard of Silke before.
They had 15 children. The eldest, Reka, was born in Prussia, the next 10 were born in Canada, the 4 youngest were born in Nebraska.
John Schincke is buried in Olympia, Washington and Charlotte in Eugene, Oregon. Both they, and some of their children were fairly nomadic roaming over a great part of the USA & Canada....and were an important part of pioneering in and around Edmonton, Alberta.
Considering how this family loved to wander, it's not surprising to hear about the 2 Grunke/Shincke couples coming to Cuming county at the same time from 2 different directions. Cuming county appears to be a pivitol location for the Schinkes.
Are these families part of your tree? If you would like more info I would be happy to share what I have. Let me know:)
