Just wondering if anyone in Rumsey can remember any Zold's. My grandfather was Joseph Zold he farmed in Rumsey when he first came to Canada in the early 1900's. Any information would be helpful.

Do you have the three-page write-up on the Zold family in the Rumsey-Rowley history book. If not, I'd be happy to scan them and send them along.

Hi Eileen

I never thought I would get a reply as I have very little information on the Zold's. I do have the Rumsey Rowley Book I purchased it shorting after our family received a surprised visit from a son of Louis Zold. He apparently travelled from the US to see where his father had come from in Canada. He mentioned the book so I proceeded to find how I could get one. Because the brothers did not stay in contact I know very little. I have pictures of my Grandfather with other men and I am not sure whether they are his brothers as no one has early pictures of any ZOLDS. If you come from the Rumsey area and know anyone who might have pictures of the brothers please let me know or if you could pass on my e-mail address to family members of Rose Zold and maybe they have some old pictures. Again thank you for the reply. I believe the Zold name will remain a mystery.

When I Google'd John Zold and Louis Zold, I got this message, old as it is. Perhaps you have no interest in the Zold's any more, but I have this photographic postcard of John and Louis and Mr. Ratz, taken in Alberta Canada about 1917. It is sent to Rose Frizzell 1404 5th Ave, Corning, CA and I wonder if any of these are the same people about which you write. I would love to make contact with the family to see if they are inetested in having this item. I would be glad to attach a scan to an email, if you are interested.

We have very little informtion so I would be delighted to see the picture. How did you come to get or find the picture? or you related to Zold or Ratz in anyway.

I look forwatd to hearing from you. I am not sure how to get my email to you without posting it for everyone.

We collect postcards and I happened to find this in a little shop in Florida.

As you are related to the individuals noted, I'd be delighted to send you the card, actually. I know it will be much more valuable to you than whatever I can get on eBay.

So that you don't think I'm scamming to get your address, would you send me your email so I can attach the scans to that. (I don't know how to attach sscans to this message.) Then you can let me know if you'd like the actual item.

Thanks so much for responding. I just love finding the real people in the pictures. Someone had lots of foresight to put the names of the subjects on the back.

Thanks. I find it interesting that the postcard ended up in Florida. You can't help but wonder the many places the postcard might of been or with whom over the years. I thank you again for tracking down the family of the postcard. I have included my email address so I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you Peter. We travelled to Rumsey years ago and found the metal marker for Julius. The marker is a metal stick as there was no headstone and just indicates year of death. I am amazed it is still visible after all those years. Thank you for the additional information of birth date.

I have been working on a database of information for the County in which Rumsey is in. I don't know any of the Zold family personally but I would really like to get a copy of the photographic postcard to add to my records in case any of the Zold's show up someday searching for their family information. There was a daughter named Rose but she married a Haskins. Thanks.
