HECK, Ron Ronald David Heck, 61, of Calgary, Alberta, died suddenly at his home on July 19, 2010. Born in Holdfast (Penzance), Saskatchewan on April 8, 1949 to John and Mary Heck, Ron had a great sense of humour, a generous and kind heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in Holdfast, later obtaining a Bachelors degree in Education from the University of Regina. After teaching school in Saskatchewan for several years, Ron pursued a longstanding career with Canada Post. Ron married Darle (LaMontagne) of Regina in 1981 where their sons, Ryan and Matthew were later born. They resided in Regina for a number of years before Ron requested a transfer with Canada Post and they moved to Calgary. Ron retired from the post office in 2008, but continued to work at Beinnein Kennels which he and Darle established over twenty years ago. Ron will always be remembered for being extremely hard working and for the countless, always humorous stories that he told. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends, and by everyone who knew him both personally and professionally. Ron is predeceased by his parents and eldest brother, RCMP Cpl Garry Heck. Left to cherish Ron's memory are his loving family: wife Darle and sons Ryan (twenty-seven) and Matthew (twenty-five); brothers: retired Cpl Don (Carol), Battleford, SK and Cpl Greg (Donna), Westbank, BC and sisters: Janet, Regina, SK; Judy and Mary Lou, Cochrane, AB, mother-in-law Marlene LaMontagne, Calgary, AB and brother-in-law Curt LaMontagne, Halifax, NB. Ron is also survived by his many nieces and nephews to whom he was a very loving uncle. There will be a Celebration of Ron's Life at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), Calgary on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so in a Visitation prior to Service from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family have requested memorial donations for those so wishing, be made to STARS Air Ambulance Calgary Base, 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Box 570, Calgary, AB T2E 8M7 or the charity of your choice.
