I am researching the family of Steve Dubinsky (born 1886 in Galacia Poland)and Elsie (Wasylena) Olyniak (Olynek)(born about 1903 in Pakan to George Olyniak who came to Canada from Bukovnia in 1902).
If anyone has any information on either of those families or any memories of them, please let me know.

A big thank you to both Peter and Stella for their replies.

I have decided to request a Genealogical Registration of Death from the Alberta vital Statistics.

I found the info on the Western Land Grants and I may also request the homestead records.

Do you think that it would be beneficial for me to join the alberta Genealogical society? Would I then be able to search out some of these things myself?

Many thanks .... Bonnie

Yes, it would be beneficial mostly if you lived near one of the Branches so you could visit one of those AGS Branch Libraries

Hi Bonnie, The Provincial Archive may hold copies.
** you probably do not want to purchase same - *sometimes the mention of our family - is only a name - included in the text .

Public Libraries in the area - may hold copies.

I am also researching my Romanian roots from Bukovina.

My grandmother was Maria Olynek. She came to Canada with her sister Elsie and brother George around 1906.

Maria Olynek was married to my Grandfather, Alexander Gullason in Canora, SK where they raised their children.

Maria, Alexander and George are buried in St. Peter and Paul Romanian Orthodox Cemetary in Canora, SK.

The book "Special Tribute to Settlers and Pioneers of Fort Victoria, Smoky Lake" is listed here: http://abgensoc.ca/holdings2009.pdf. This page on the same website tells you how to order it: http://abgensoc.ca/holdings2009.pdf. I could not find anything about the Memoirs of Victoria School - where did you hear about it?
