"Looking for any information about a Tom Porter, retuning soldier, who was known to be in the Olds region after June 1919 and until June of 1921 or later. He was the father of Willie and Mary Porter who were then resident in the Wood's Orphanage family in Olds.
... Mary and Willie were the first children in the orphanage when it began in Innisfail, AB (1914)."

Is this information incorrect? It mentions a Bob Porter who did not return from the war.
"Did you know that Wood’s Homes began as an orphanage in 1914? A soldier named Bob Porter stopped George Wood, a Presbyterian minister, on a street in Innisfail, Alberta to ask if he would care for his two motherless children so he could serve overseas. Sadly, Mr. Porter did not return, but that pivotal moment was the foundation for what today is a nationally-recognized and accredited organization that helps more than 20,000 children and families every year from across Canada."

"In 1915 Reverend George Wood, 1878-1928, a Presbyterian minister in Innisfail, Alberta agreed to care for the motherless children of a soldier going overseas. This was the beginning of Wood's Christian Home, originally an orphanage, and presently a facility for emotionally disturbed children. He married Annie Jarvie in 1916, and together the Woods provided a loving environment for orphaned and neglected children. In 1918, due to space shortages, the Woods moved to Olds, Alberta where 30 acres of land had been obtained."
