Looking for any info on Walter Erich Blasner and his wife Ellen (Ella) Frohlich. They came from Tilsit, Germany (now called Sovetsk, Russia) in 1930 -- I am not sure if they came directly to Ponoka, but they did eventually settle there. There children were Sigfried (born in Germany), Bill, Ron, Rita & Ray. Also, a son Jordy who died at age 9. Walter died at his farm near Ponoka, of suspicious circumstances involving a hanging. I would be thankful for any information...

Walter Blasner was my paternal grandfather. I am Bills daughter. I was adopted out as a baby but was fortunate to have met my grandma Ellen Blasner. I also know my Uncle Ron Blasner. My mother was the late Leah Patricia Third. Who is this and why do you want to know? I also have a lot of questions so if any one knows any more details i would be grateful.

hi there sigfried is my grampa who passed away not long ago..

Siegfried Blaesner passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the age of 83 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years, Verna and her family; his sons, Steven (Elizabeth) Blaesner and family of Edmonton and Terry (Brenda) Blaesner and family of Calgary as well as their mother. He was predeceased by one son Kelvin in 1980. Siegfried was born on September 8, 1929 in Tilsit, Germany and immigrated to Canada with his parents at the age of one. They settled in the Ponoka area where he was raised and educated. Sieg joined the Canadian Air Force and worked as an Ariel Mechanic for five years. He worked in Montreal for a time before returning to Alberta settling in Warburg. He was a self taught welder and machinist designing and manufacturing machine tools which became his passion in life. Another dream come true for him was becoming a pilot. Most recently, he settled in Medicine Hat building tools in his backyard shop, as his designs were always in demand. After retiring his shop, his love in life became the internet and reading. No formal funeral service will be held.
