Hi I am trying ti locate information on Frederick Augustus Davis who was listed on the Pincher Creek Census in 1911. He was age 25, Born August 1885 in England and lived with John and Margaret Henderson on Pincher Creek. I can't find him on the 1916 Census in Alberta , Sask or Manitoba. His son was born 1917 in Winnipeg. No record of marriage in Manitoba.
Do you have access to any information on marriages that took place in Pincher Creek between1911 and 1917. The Census did not indicate what Frederick did for a living. Thank you

Surnames: SKAKUN; SVENIUK
Thank you for your offer to assist. I am looking for information about Petro "Peter" Skakun (also used the surname Sveniuk) who came to Canada in the 1920s from Ukraine. I would also be interested in any information about his ancestors or descendants.

I am assisting his nephew (my father in law) to find information. He is believed to have operated a goat ranch in the Pincher Creek area and was most often seen wearing a long rancher's oil-skin type jacket.

I've located an obit notice from 1968 for a Peter Skakun but am unsure if this is our Pincher Creek Peter Skakun@Sveniuk.

Thanks and kind regards,

Brad

Thank you Brad
We found Frederick Augustus Davis on the 1911 Pincher Creek Census. He moved to Winnipeg before 1916. There is no record of his marriage in Manitoba so we believe he married Martha Robertson in Pincher Creek. Neither Fred nor Martha had any family in Canada so they may have been married in a court house. Otherwise they would have married in a United or an Anglican Church. Do you have any access to marriage records from Pincher Creek. Thanks for your help

Hi Jen,
Wondering if I can ask a big favour. The Museum in Pincher Creek holds a book of photos of the Crowsnest area. Included in it is a photo of the Alberta Hotel at Cowley. It burned to the ground in 1910.( I have the newspaper clipping) I would love to have a copy or photo of this hotel. I took a picture of the page back about 10 years ago when I visited, but it did not turn out(back before digital photo days). I dont think I will be back that way for at least another year. If you have time to locate it I would be thankful!
This is a very nice offer and I will do the same for my location, thanks for the idea!

Saw you message on Ancestry. I am working on "Diamond" family. There's a few family from Quebec who moved in Alberta around 1915 and I need some infos about them:
Arphila Diamond, "Joseph", married to Denise Sicotte (need the date they get married and the place), the date and place they passed away. Same infos for his brother named: Adelard Florido born in Quebec in 1899, was in Alberta in 1916...and Omer, born in Quebec in 1902.... You can join me directly at: dulsao@gmail.com. Hello,
I just happened to find your reply to Dee's posting in 2002. Unfortunately, she passed away a few years ago but I am her cousin and Louis was also my grandfather. I am interested in finding out more information on the family.

Sorry to hear of Dee's passing. I have done some research in the Pincher Creek area, but not for this family. Can I suggest searching the on line index of the Peele Newspaper index, on the U of Alberta website. I have had some luck with that.
