Jackson family Pincher Creek

I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Jackson family who lived at Pincher Creek during the 1940s and who boarded troops on leave during WW11. They had 2 daughters that I know of - Marion and Mary. From a letter written by Mary to my mum I gather there was a large family because it was an empty 10 room house with the rest of the family away. My uncle boarded there when on leave from RAAF training in 1943/44 and his letters gave a glowing report of their hospitality. Would love to know more about this family.

Surnames: Jackson
Hi, I only know of my great-grandparents, Samson and Hannah Jackson living in Pincher Creek. I believe they lived there 1900 till about 1920. Not sure of the dates. I am having difficulty researching this family. They did have about 10 children or more. I am not sure of all the names.

There are write-ups about the Jackson Brothers, Arthur, Walter, and Cyril, in the Prairie Grass to Mountain Pass history books. The old book has it on p. 79 and the new book on p. 222. Neither book is online, I believe, but you could access at your library if you are near Alberta. It appears that the write-ups are similar, with the newer one being an update of the older one. If you Google 'Pincher Creek cemetery', you can find lots of links to cemetery information. If you cannot access the history books, reply to this post and I will see what I can do.

Thanks for the reply. Just saw your message as we've been away for 12 days with no WiFi. I can't do any library research as I'm in Australia so would be grateful for anything you can do! Will check out the cemetery info. Thank you!

If you are in Australia permanently, you likely can't access the history books. Message me when you get to more WiFi and I can send you some of the info by email. William burns' granddaughter, Frances Riviere, has written a book about her family's early life, called Washing at the Creek. You can google that and at least have a look. The Riviere family has a VERY interesting history, too.

Thanks for replying again and the links you posted.
Sorry, but I'm a bit confused as to who William Burns is.
My uncle was in the Royal Australian Air Force and was sent to Canada for training in 1944.
He wasn't related to the Jacksons at Pincher Creek but was sent to stay with them a couple of times for rnr. I was really wanting to know if there were any relatives who knew about the family who were so hospitable to my uncle and who may be interested in reading what he wrote home about them and in the one photo I have with Mary Jackson.
I don't really know much about the history of Alberta. If you can point out if any of the subjects in these links that might help with my interest I would be grateful.

Sorry re the Burns references. I think I got my posts mixed up. However, I will have a look at the Jackson pages in the PC history book, and scan a few of them for you. Sometime in the next few days], hopefully!
