I'm looking for descendants of Frank & Maud Smith who immigrated to the Peace River area about 1921. Their children were: George, Claude, Etta, Bert, Catherine and Irene Smith.
Catherine married Herbert Ferguson and had at least 3 children (Loretta Lucile, Evan & Gloria Ferguson), then married V. Parker.
Claude married Lottie Flett(?) & had 5 children: (Richard, Evan, Ethel, Stanley, & Earl Smith.)
Irene married Albert Skubovius, 7 children: (Claude, Ella, Eileen, Alvin, Catherine, Theodore, & John Skubovius.)
Etta married Jed Wiles, (children: Shirley, Albert, Beatrice, Charlie, and Dorothy Mae Wiles.)
George married Ruth Williams, (children: Hazel, Frank, Cleo, & Laura Smith.)
Frank & Maud Smith are buried at Judah, Alberta.
Frank was born in 1866 in Clinton Co, MI, and Maud was born in 1871 in Isabella Co, MI.

The Master Surname Index (not online) (mostly burials in Alberta cemeteries) of the Alberta Genealogical Society lists these possible names;

George Franklin SMITH, - 1948
Maude May SMITH, - 28 May 1942
Herbert Wilfred FERGUSON, 1887 - 26 Jul 1950 age 63 yrs
all buried next to each other in the Judah Community cemetery near Peace River.

I can not match any of the other children or their wives or their children to any cemetery in the Peace area or elsewhere in Alberta.

It seems they have gone elsewhere

There is a Ted SKUDOVIUS listed in BC. you may want to give him a call. http://findaperson.canada411.ca/

The Nampa History book, Turning the Pages of Time has mention of an Albert Skubovious, the story is of the Foldeen Skubovius family ( Foldeen was Albert's brother).
This book contains some Judah history. I can look more carefully for others but perhaps you already know of this source.
Let me know.
Regards, Lois Stranaghan

Lois,
thank you for your reply -
No, I have not seen The Nampa History,
Can this be accessed online?
I'm sure Albert Skubovius married my grandfather's sister, Irene Smith.
I believe they left the Judah area and had at least 3 or 4 children.
I assume that the Foldeen Skubovius family remained in the area?
thanks,
Leisa Shewalter

Could you give me an idea of who and what information you're looking for? What email would you like me to use?
I'm a granddaughter of Bert Smith, who was a brother of Claude Smith. I've been looking for cousins who might have information on the parents of Bert and Claude. I was told by a cousin that Maud (Maude?) Smith had a photo album with pictures of George Franklin's mother.
I've also been in contact with Eileen who was a daughter of Irene Smith Skubovius, and her daughter Cindy.
I have some information on Geo. Frank Smith and Maude Kirkby Smith. Contact me at

Hello, Not sure that this thread is still accurate, but I am looking for information on the same family, Cleo David Smith 1919-1967 was my Grandfather, George Franklin Smith 1893-1936 was my 2nd Great Grandfather (Ruth Williams) and George Franklin Smith and Maude Kirkby would be 3rd greats.

I am trying a death certificate for George Franklin Smith 1893-1936 .. and any photos associated with the family along with information.

Thanks!

Hi Kerri,
I believe your grandfather Cleo was a cousin to my dad, Edwin Smith, who was the son of Bert E. Smith.
Am I right in thinking Cleo's dad was George Smith who died about 1921 in Alberta?

Also, I tried to email you once already and it wouldn't go through. Do you have another email address?

I'd love to trade info, histories, stories, etc.

I hope this works.

Sincerely
Leisa Shewalter
