Courtoreille/Belcourt/Desjarlais
I am researching the Courtoreille/Courteoreille lines originating in the Lac Ste Anne/St Albert, Alberta areas. They were also connected with the Michel Callihoo Band. My great grandfather was Narcisse, son of Louis Pepamowew Courteoreille and Sophie Belcourt. Louis was the son of Joseph Pepamowew dit Nipissing Courteoreille and Suzanne Desjarlais. i would like to exchange information with anyone descended from these lines or descended from the siblings of Narcisse - Emmerance, Patrick, Nancy, Betsy, Mary, Hilare or Josue.

Re: Courtoreille/Belcourt/Desjarlais
My grandfathers family I believe was from the Michel band. His name was Soloman Courtorielle. His wife was Marie(It is my understanding Marie was from Litte Red River and a member of the Nanooch family.) and for years they lived across the lake from Faust, Alberta at a place called Bigpoint. Most of there children live in the faust Area now, except my mother who lives in Slave Lake.

Re: Courtoreille/Belcourt/Desjarlais
thanks for your reply Wilfred. I had just about given up on finding anyone who would share information on ancestors. I cannot find Soloman Courtoreille on Rootsweb. your grandmother's name Nanooch does not ring any bells for me. who was Soloman's father?
Do you recognize any of the names I mentioned as related to your lin?

Re: Courtoreille/Belcourt/Desjarlais
Gail, I have talked to my mother and she did reconize one possible name. Narcisse. I will try to explain what she said to me as best as possible. Narcisse(if it's the same Narcisse) raised her uncle William. Narcisse was not his father but raised William, who I believe is in his 80's and living in the Faust area. William real father was August. The brother of my Grandpa Solomon. Solomon's father was Alex. She said William lived by Narrows Creek which is near Big Point. I had ealier Mention my grandmother who was a Nanooch. The Nanooch family is currently one of the biggest families in the Fox Lake/John Dor Praiire area. My mother said my uncle Fred who lives in Faust who is currently the oldest family member may know more about our family's who's who! Wilfred

Mom's name is Gay. I'm Gail. Look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Courtoreille/Belcourt/Desjarlais
thanks for your reply, gail. As noted my name is also Gail. I am still trying to "flesh out" the many courteoreille lines. I had your granmother's name 'Sarah" as a child of Patrick and Rachel but little else. Can you provide her spouse's name and other children besides your father Frank. What dates for Frank (birth & marriage death if applicable)and who did he marry as well as her dates. You can reply off line if you feel more comfortable providing this information. my email is gailc550 at yahoo.ca

Re: Courtoreille/Belcourt/Desjarlais
My great grandmother was Betsy Courteoreille. She was Married to Albert Cunningham and was his first wife. I know a fair amount about the Cunningham history but not the Courteoreille's. I have recently been urged to find out more about my roots. Is there anything you could tell me about my great grandmother?
