Looking for any information from Olds, Alberta, Canada. The family is Van Wyk. The parents are Marius and Geraldine Lavina Judkins. I am not sure what year they setteled in Alberta. Geraldine's parents were originally from Minnesota. My great aunt, Elsie or Eleanor, was Geraldine's mother. I show Geraldine born in December of 1909 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada. I have no info on her father, Marius Van Wyk. Their children were Forest, who died in 1931 in infancy, and Robert and Phyllis, I don't know the birth dates but assume the dates were after 1931. I have articles that were printed in the 'Our Future Our Past', The Alberta Heritage Digitization Project staing many stories about the family.

I am looking for a birth certificate and death certificate for Forest Van Wyk who was born in 1930 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and died in 1931 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His parents were Geraldine Lavina Judkins and Marius Van Wyk. His grandmother was my great aunt, Elsie (Eleanor) McPherson. Her daughter was Geraldine Van Wyk. I have found that he had two siblings, Robert and Phyllis. I don’t have any dates for the siblings although I believe Forest was the first born.

Didsbury - Anderson

I have verified that Henry D. Anderson died in Didsbury in 1915 and is buried there. He was born in PEI about 1834. I am looking for his son, Franklin D.(probably "David") Anderson. There is a "thank you" in the Didsbury paper from Franklin and his family following the passing of his father. Anyone come across Franklin Anderson in Didsbury? He was born 1862 in St. Peters, PEI. He married in Aug 1898 (Washington State) to Hannah Elizabeth McDermid of New Brunswick. It is possible he sold farm machinery in Didsbury. I have tracked two children, but don't know if they survived: Sadie and Laurence Webster Anderson(both born in Washington state. It appears that Franklin accompanied his father back to Canada and that the wife followed later. She and the children appear (without Franklin) on the Washington census for 1910 but not thereafter. It is probable that they moved to Alberta shortly after 1910. Franklin is the brother of Gilbert Julias Anderson, my 2nd great grandfather.

HI,
CLOYD MOUNTAIN'S SISTER OCIE MOUNTAIN WAS MY GRANDMOTHER. SHE MARRIED MY GRANDFATHER HORACE CHILTON CORBIN AND MY FATHER WAS THEIR YOUNGEST SON. UNFORTUNATELY SHE PASSED AWAY WHEN MY FATHER WAS 17 YEARS OLD SO I NEVER MET HER. HE REMARRIED LATER TO A WOMAN NAMED GRACE HAIGIE. FAMILY HISTORY IS VERY SKETCHY AND MOST OF THEIR CHILDREN ARE EITHER PASSED AWAY OR NOT CLEAR ABOUT FAMILY HISTORY BACKGROUND. I HAVE NEVER FOUND MUCH INFORMATION FOR OUR FAMILY TREE BUT WOULD REALLY LOVE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MY PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER. MY MOTHER REMEMBERS VISITING YOUR GRANDFATHER MANY YEARS AGO.

My husband found ocie and clyode in an old census where they were listed as nephew and niece to the head of household Mountain. I think his name was Tom but can't be sure. I have a cousin who saw my thread and I will see if they said anything that will help. Wish I knew more.Have a good day. Margaret Corbin Hines

Hi Vanessa,
Just a thought - I may have missed - the surnames that you are searching for.
It is always important to enter the Surnames of Interest on the Subject line - of the message - could save a number of steps - and time. People respond to surnames. there may be persons at the message board - or the Mail List - who are researching the same family line - or -may have come across the names during their own research.
There may be information - in the Local Family History Books.
Perhaps some family members enlisted
http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/020106_e.html
Perhaps are shown in the 1901 ,1906, 1911 Census.
http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html

A Public Library -in the area - or in a Larger town - may still have the newspapers - on microfilm in their collection.
The Provincial Archive in Edmonton ????may hold newspapers on microfilm.
Also I believe the Legislative Library ??? in Edmonton

Cheers, Stella
