ROMANIUK - VEGREVILLE ALBERTA CIRCA 1946

Seeking information regarding a lady named Ann Romaniuk who worked in Vegreville Alberta circa 1946. I am working on her family tree and have nothing for information other than her birth year which was 1920. She worked in an office in 1946 from what I can find out. She was to marry a fellow named Peter Bosovich but something happened and the marriage never happened. Trying to finish her story but can find no trace of her.

Any help appreciated.

Hi! thank you for your reply. I believe the Mom's name was Mary Romaniuk but I do not have documentation to prove that. Her Dad was deceased so his name was not listed on the document I did have. Ann worked as a clerk in an office in Vegreville in the time I stated but after that, I have no knowledge as to what happened to her. I did call the library in Vegreville and spoke with a lady who said they had no genealogical info that would help me. She suggested I post on a Facebook page called Eye on Vegreville so I did just that. I checked the GenWeb site and the Alberta Genealogical pages and got nothing. I have checked the census info here on Ancestry and also checked Family Search .org for info. I suspect surname may have been spelled Romaniw as I have found reference to an Ann Romaniw and other spellings.

No, all she did was tell me that they had nothing for genealogical info and directed me to a page on Facebook called Eye on Vegreville. I posted a message there but have heard nothing so far.

Hi yes, I am trying to piece together a family tree for a friend of mine who is the daughter of Ann Romaniuk and Peter Bosovich. She was placed for adoption at birth and has now decided to find out about her family after all the years that have passed. I have made contact with the birth fathers family but am unable to find anything regarding Ann and what happened to her after the child was placed. In the adoption papers it states that Ann worked in an office in Vegreville and that she lived with her Mother. Father was deceased but no other info. It stated that the birth father promised to marry Ann but because of family objections on his side, he could not marry her. Heartbroken, Ann gave her child away. The child is now 66 years old and has medical issues and would like to know more about the family medical history. Thank you very much for the hints. I have been doing genealogy research for my families for years but have never delved into it for anyone so its a bit daunting. I am sure Romaniuk is Catholic...in all of the census docs I looked at they were listed as Catholic. I was hoping a trip to Vegreville might provide some information but I think not. I live close to Edmonton so may head into the archives there and see what I can find.
Have a great evening.,
Debbi

Good morning! I have zeroed in on that very Annie so we think alike. I need to get my hands on the adoption records again and copy them so I can read them over and over again. I feel like I am missing something maybe. I have begun constructing a family tree in hopes that clues will come forward in the Ancestry database and I am also going back and forth to the LDS site and automated genealogy. I am determined to find the answers for my friend, if its possible, I am from the Maritimes so am familiar with finding information in that area but am at a loss for Alberta genealogy. They seem to be a bit backward with putting records online unlike in the Maritimes.
Helen was a Worobec in one of the records I have found and John was Iwan John so that is the basis for the family tree. I have not found reference to Annie in any other records with this family however so I am not sure I am on the right path. I have found a Mrs. Annie Romaniuk listed as a widow in 1945 in Vegreville ( actually Andrew) area and again in a later voters list. I believe this is my Ann's Mother as she was listed as a widow on the adoption papers. Now if I can just find out who her husband was, then maybe that will tell me I am heading in the right direction. You are very knowledgeable in this area of research and I thank you for the time and effort you are spending on this. Have a wonderful day!

I checked the cemetery and according to the headstone, Annie was the wife of Steve so this is not the right person. Great webpage!
