Hi, From the Govt of Alberta Vital Statistics Registry Office - in Edmonton Alberta
The cost aprox $40 - access may depend on relationship -
Posting the name/s of persons you are researching - might bring some success - from family members - or those associated - they may have some information.

Alberta does not give access / index - to Births/ Marriage/ Death - Registrations / Long form Certificates
If you know the religion that the family followed - Church records / Baptism - might be available
Search Canada Census 1911 - 1916 - you may find the family / child - which will give you an aprox year of birth
Cheers, Stella

thank you Stella

I appreciate your reply.

I know some information. I see them in the 1911 and 1916 census. The girls I am looking for or especially one of the daughters were born in Medicine Hat 1914 and 1916
To complicate this issue the daughters were adopted and the names of course we changed.

Is there a way I can go about this?

Can you share a contact email or phone number where I can reach you?

thanks again!

Hi Kelly, I am not researching the family - Only attempt to help -advise - if possible

Many Provinces - now allow access to adoption records - to the adoptees
perhaps also to close family members ? - They will be able to advise
Some also have an Adoptee Registry - Perhaps - the daughters - have registered - looking for family. Registering - may help make a connection.

I totally understand that. I was wanting to call because you are at the government office that CAN help me out. I was hoping a phone call would help explain everything and provide a clear idea of what I needed to do to find out the information I am seeking.

It is basically my grandfathers birth (blood) mother. So my Great grandmother.

How & who can I contact?

thank you and hopefully I can find the right people with information or the records.

◾Alberta Vital Statistics records cannot be accessed over the Internet.

Who may apply for a genealogical search?

Anyone may apply for a genealogical search of a record when the record is old enough.
◾Birth: after 120 years has passed from the date of birth, anyone may apply for the birth record.
◾Birth: after 50 years has passed from the person's date of death, anyone may apply for that person's birth record.
◾Marriage: after 75 years has passed from the date of marriage, anyone may apply for the marriage record.
◾Death: after 50 years has passed from the date of death, anyone may apply for the death record.

Hi, Sorry for the confusion - I had been helping someone in Manitoba - at the same time - your message came through

I am not with the Alberta Govt office and do not live in Alberta

Posting the family name - to the message board - may help -others help you
Family may have submitted family history/story to a Local History Book project in the mid to late 1980's >
Family members - may be researching family history - may see your posting - etc
