I am posting another message to you, Betty, as I believe my first posting was somewhat vague.
The information I have is this:
My mother's parents:
Father: August Ollech (born 1901 in Puppen, near Ortelsburg, Prussia)
Mother: Wilehmina ("Minnie") Krossa (born around 1897 place unknown, but suspect near Puppen).
Minnie came to Canada in the late 1920's with a few of her children. My mother (the eldest of 8) was born in Ortelsburg.
Minnie's brother Adolf came to Canada as well. I am unsure of whether he came before or after Minnie. I don't know of any other siblings.
Minnie never learned English and spoke only vaguely of her background. I do not know Minnie's parent's names, nor the correct name of the village she/they are from. Minnie was married previously and had a son, Paul. Family "history" (translation: gossip) states that Minnie's first husband was ALSO named Krossa, but that doesn't seem to make much sense to me. I am unclear whether "Krossa" was Minnie's first-marriage name, or her maiden name.
Adolf (wife's name is unknown to me) had several children. The names my aunt (Alice Ollech-Mould, my mother's sister and Minnie's other daughter) gave me are: Albert Krossa (Ponoka-I know and have met him), Martha, Ida, Henry?, Paul, Alma, Emma?, Freddie, Margaret. These are the only ones she could remember. I have called my (great) uncle Albert Krossa to ask for more information.
I am going to be travelling to Europe next year and am looking to find the name of the village where the Krossa's lived, and/or other family members.
Please feel free to email me as well as post to this board. I am excited that many of us "Krossa" decendents exist!!
