I am seeking information on the ancestors of Joseph Boucher. Here is what I know.

Joseph Boucher, Sr. was born in 1775. He married Marguerite Nostekeux (Nostekew?) in 1790. She was born in 1778 at Lac Ste. Anne (Alberta, Canada). Joseph was a freeman and survived on his trapping, trading and fishing. The term "freeman" means that he worked for himself. He was not under a contract with a company (Hudson's Bay, Northwest, etc.) and was therefore free to work where he wanted. Six children were recorded.

Children:
1. Joseph, Jr. born 1792; married Marguerite Dupuis in 1811;
died 1851.
2. Marguerite born 1794; married Pierre Lemay
3. Jean Baptiste born 1816.
4. Angele born 1819.
5. Cecile born 1827; married Antoine Cardinal in 1850.
6. Louise born 1830; married Antoine Auger.

I am willing to share all the Boucher family information I have.

Boucher, Joseph

You have more information than I. Do you have sources? Some of what you have is different. Such as the children's names -- I have Louise as the daughter of Joseph Jr. who married Marguerite Dupuis. His (jr.) father was Joseph Sr. who married Marguerite Nostekeux. But, I am waiting on the documentation I was promised.

Joseph Boucher married Marie Josephte Page or Lepage in the 1820s. They appear in St. Genevieve de Berthier in 1830 to baptize 3 children, the oldest is 6yrs. Joseph may have been in the West as a voyager prior. He is said to have been native american. They settle in Vermont around 1840. His oldest son by Marie is Olivier born around 1822, I can not determine his place of baptism. Joseph could have been married prior to marrying Marie in the West. I have not found any record of his Marriages. He lived to be 100yrs old in St. Albans, Vt. and is the ancestor of most Bushey's in Northern Vermont and Clinton County, New York.
