Re: Karaconti / Gray Bloodline
Hi Sharmaine, I am just starting my search. My 95 year old grandfather John McKenzie, has asked me to find out where his mother is buried. Her name was Louise McKenzie (nee Gray) and she was a daughter of Clarisse Karaconti and Phillipe Gray. I am so interested in finding out all I can about our heritage-if you have any information, could you please share it with me?? Thank you so much, Jodie

Re: Karaconti / Gray Bloodline
I had a great great grandmother named Philomene Karakonte, who married Isadore Findlay. Would you know if she was the daughter of Philippe and Clarisse. I have recently become interested in researching my family's history, as it seems it was a very interesting one.

Re: Karaconti / Gray Bloodline
Hello Ann
I havent been on here for a long time, unfortunatly I have been stalled in determining the bloodline. I am facinated to see others here I am related to but never knew, this is a truely awesome experience.
Do you know the heritage of Clarisee and her husband, was she in fact a Metis? I know my grandfather, and my mother look very native, not sure what. Our family is dark hair, dark skin and from what I remember of my grandfather, he was a very proud native. I want to know more, but am very stale at this. I wonder if you could share your findings with me?
If you send me a pm with your email I will send yoou my email, perhaps we can chat about the family we know.

Re: Karaconti / Gray Bloodline
Hello Anne
It has been a long time but we're still searching. Can you tell me when your father was born, I can't find Robert Gray, but my mom remembers meeting him when she was young. The 1900 Census list two brothers and three sisters for my grandfather. Harry was born in 1900, and one census has his brothers as; Phillip, Roderick, Germaine, Harry and his sisters as; Francine, Louiseanne, Philomine I've found another census that shows 12 3 Gray Ma?e M Head S May 15 1849 51 13 3 Gray Gene? F Wife M Apr 3 1850 50 14 3 Gray Albert M Son S Mar 14 1878 23 15 3 Gray Ambroise M Son S May 1 1879 20 16 3 Gray Maggy F Daughter S Nov 8 1889 12 17 3 Gray Elizabeth F Daughter S Nov 1 1897 4
I'm thinking there's a couple Grays in LacStAnne and tis may be creating some confusion. Interesting enough, the 1900 Census list my grandfather as Henry Gordon Gray, but he was Harry Gordon Gray.
