Hello "sstanger1", thank you for going to the effort to let people know about these sources for the MORBECKs and SWEEPs. I have checked all of these references in the past. The first and third references (at Whitelaw and at Farrell Lake near Endiang) are helpful, while the second one near Newell is a different family. Thanks again.
Ken Neumann

Ron, thank you for writing. I have been in contact with Rhonda regarding "our" Morbeck families. Thank you for the offer to try to speak with you as well. I continue, as I have opportunity, to do further research on our families which we have in common. We have a common ancestor, Magdalena Tenbreul (spelled Tembreull in the USA) (1841-1913), who is my great-great-grandmother (your great-grandmother)-- so that makes us second cousins once removed. I have plans "some day" to tour around the Peace River country and meet any relatives possible. All the best,
Ken Neumann

Hi, Have you posted your quest to the Ontario Message Board: or Mail List.

There may be persons who will be able to assist re Isabella and her family husband Peter , daughter Muriel

Which in turn - may eventually lead you to information re the marriage which may have occurred in Lacombe Alberta

Always best to start with the most current information - and work back.

SNIP
I know they didn't die in Lacombe but fairly sure they married there as per the form from the passenger list attached.

The last known address of the pair was 210 Alfred Street, Kingston, Ontario where all correspondence to a now deceased relative stopped. SNIP

Unfortunately we do not have a National Registry of Marriages Birth -Death in Canada
Some Provinces have the Vital Events - that they now consider Public Record online.
Alberta - does not.

All Marriages /Births/Deaths - that occur in Alberta need to be Registered in that Province.

Registration of Marriage - from Govt of Alberta Vital Statistics Registry Offices in Edmonton.
The Cost is aprox $40 Cndn. There may be restrictions to access but worth contacting Vital Stats.

Last Known Address for Peter CAMPBELL ? and Isabella CAMPBELL nee STEWART was
210 Alfred Street, Kingston Ontario.
Telephone Directory - may show the family

If a City Directory / Criss Cross Direactory [shows name to address -address to name] will show all persons living at a particular address.

Do you have the passenger list for Isabella CAMPBELL returning to Canada with adopted daughter Muriel.
It should show destination.

Isabella CAMPBELL nee STEWART had a brother John Muir STEWART - dcd 13/04/1916
did he serve with Canadian Expeditionary Forces? if so - Have you obtained Service Records
Have you obtained Service Records for your Grandfather

There might have been an obituary published - or a news story in the paper - which might mention children - also the Obituary for his wife Isabella [WHITE] STEWART - may mention names of children.

Re the Adoption: Perhaps the child of a family member ? who may have passed away during the war?
others do adopt - even when they do have their own birth child/children.

Cheers, Stella

Thanks for the help. Sorry I should have said I know they didnt die in Lacombe but fairly sure they married there as per the form from the passenger list attacted.
The last known address of the pair was 210 Alfred Street, Kingston, Ontario where all correspondence to a now deceased relative stopped. My relative said in 2002 she couldnt remember when she had the last letter but it was a long time ago. Isabella Stewart was my grandfathers sister from a family of 8 children we were only aware of 2 my grandfather and his oldest brother. The carnage of the WW1 was mostly to blame for the lost knowledge and I am the first to know of the full family so see it as my job to trace what I can.
Isabella told a little lie on the passenger list by giving her age as 33 when she was in fact 40 (born Edinburgh).
Know she came back to Scotland between the wars and adopted a girl Muriel and took her back to Canada. Know nothing of Peter Campbell so was hoping a Marriage in Lacombe might give some information making them more easily traced. Dont know when they left Lacombe.
She had a brother John Muir Stewart who lived in Merriton, Ontario and he was killed in WW1 just a few months before his brother (my grandfather). John also we never knew existed until recently. I have all there is on him but must wait for the 1921 census to find out if he had children before his death 13/04/1916. His widow Isabella (White) moved to Port Dalhousie while he was on service and there is a May Stewart listed as a daughter with them on the 1911 census Thorald mispelled as STWART. She does appear on school lists for Port Dalhousie but the lists are sporadic and there are none which would have covered younger children.
Have gone on a bit but you can see the interest I have now and hope to get in touch with living relatives some day soon. Dont think Isabella Stewart/Campbell would have had any natural children hence the adoption but not proven off course.
Thanks again for your help,
regards,
Alan.

Believe she married her husband in Lacombe between 1926 - 1929, his name Frank or William F R Oxley who may have been involved with horses. Just want to know where I can find out about marriage date. She and her husband came back to UK in early 1930s because she was ill.

I have quite a bit of information on this family, at least the Botten side. I go back to 1706 with Even's, to his great-great grandfather, tollef Torgiersen.

Very fortunate that this family has several church records.

I am missing the descendants, however. I don't know what happened to Even's children, except one who was murdered.
[the following reply was sent to Stella off list because of a problem with formatting messages sent to the list which has now been corrected]

Thank you for your quick reply Stella!

Charles and his family emigrated through Hamburg, Germany (23 Jul 1886) > Grimsby, England > Liverpool > Toronto[1]. (Ann) Louise BOLZE was his wife. Four related families emigrated from the same location in Germany (BOLZE, KRAUSE, LEHRMANN who subsequently spelled the name LEHRMAN, and LOSSE). These families eventually moved West.

“The Lehrman's came about 1894 and settled on section 7. They are relatives of the Bolze family.”[2] I don't know whether or not this is consistent with the homestead record you cited.

The Calgary Daily Herald records the sale of the Victoria hotel by Charles Lehrman and that he planned to spend the winter in Red Deer and to subsequently move to BC[3]. The hotel was built in 1894 and burnt to the ground in 1911. The family moved to Red Deer as planned in November, 1909[4].

Charles Ernest LEHRMAN died 19 Dec 1938 in Vancouver -- I am certain this is my Charles LEHRMAN[5].

Ann Louise LEHRMAN was born 25 Nov 1855 in Germany and died 24 Mar 1931 in Vancouver[6].

As stated in my post I would like to exchange info and pictures of this family (and the related families mentioned above).

References:
[1] Staatsarchiv Hamburg. If you were able to send a copy or a link to the picture of Frank Andrews I know Gerry would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Larry

Hi, It would be wonderful - to have a central registry - for these vital events - Each Province is responsible for the registration of Any Birth,Marriage and Death within their Province.

Alberta does not have any Vital Records - birth Marriage Death - Online. Some provinces have recently started to put some Not considered Public record online - but one still needs to order the Registration - for complete information.

The Alberta Genealogical Society - have published a book of Vital Records to 1905. * note for some reason not all names are included.

Contact the Provincial Archive in Edmonton Alberta -
They should be able to give you some basic information - there is usually a small fee for service.

Alberta GenWeb Local History Books
RADEL, Geo.; Homesteader's Heritage; Saddle Hills
No Volunteer for the above book - Provincial Archive may hold a copy.

RADELL, Albert; Wagon Trails to Hardtop; Lacombe
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~canab/looklaco.html
The above book has been digitalized - can be viewed online.

Cheers, Stella

Individual provinces look after vital statistic records. Alberta is not on line.

I was wondering if Canada has an online database for birth records. Looking for info on these siblings:

Daniel Radel - born April 25, 1896, in La Combe?
Mabel Radel - born about 1897?
baby boy Radel - died in La Combe??

The parents are Albert J. and Anna Maria Radel. They moved from Minnesota to Alberta, Canada, about 1895. The 1901 and 1911 census show they were living in Alberta. I'm looking for full names, birth dates, and birth places.

Can anyone out there help me?????
