My husband's grandfather served in WWI in the 187th Battalion - Central Alberta Force. In his things were individual pictures of some of his battalion taken in Amherst, NS before shipping out to Europe. I am looking to place these pictures with the families of the soldiers. The names of the soldiers I know are:
Alfred James Bouvette - Bowden, Alberta (Kelowna)
John Kirkham - Knee Hill Valley, Alberta
Frederick Earle Rich - Gadsby, Alberta
Thomas Robert Smith - Olds, Alberta
Frances Winter Hatherley - Castor, Alberta
Richard Clement Thompson - Innisfail, Alberta
John Alfred Baynham - Kevisville, Alberta
and three others without names.

Re: WWI Soldiers Pictures
Hi there, I have a picture of Alfred James Bouvette. This photo was in my husbands grandfather's belongings and we thought they should be forwarded to family. I have some information on Alfred Bouvette as well. I have a copy of his Attestation Papers and description as of enlistment. The name of his next of kin is Mrs. Rosie Bouvette of Kelowna, BC his mother. If this is your relative, please let me know and we can get the picture to you. Thank you Joyce Willsie

Re: WWI Soldiers Pictures
Has anyone from Castor, Alberta contacted you about the Hatherly Family and photo of Frances? Descendents of the family are still in the Castor area, but the Hatherly name is no longer in teh arae. The Castor Museum would probably be a good place for the photo. Is a copy still available?
Cheers,
Dr. Russ Schnell (born and raised in Castor)

Re: WWI Soldiers Pictures
Hello, I have extensive research for this Family in Kelowna and surrounding area. They are Metis from North Dakota/Manitoba, Frank Bouvette having come to BC and Married Rose Smithson. Frank is the father of This Alfred Bouvette, he is My grandmother's Brother. I would be interested in contact from others pursuing this research.
Frank was Metis, and REOse was 1/2 Native. Ayla

Re: WWI Soldiers Pictures
Ayla,
I have had two other replies for this posting for the Bouvette family. If you check the Rootsweb.com message boards you should be able to reach them via my original posting. They may be related to you. The picture has already been sent to the first reply I received, but I'm sure he will be willing to send you a copy.
I hope this helps, Joyce

Re: WWI Soldiers Pictures
I am not A Hatherly but the soldier in the photo wass from Castor, Alberta where I grew up. There is a descendent of the Hatherly family still in the area. She was one of the Hatherly sisters and is in her late 80s. Theer is a nice valley on the Castor Creek named Hatherly Valley .
Cheers,
Russ Schnell
