Dora Doyle and her family immigrated to Canada in 1924 from Ireland. Her father tried farming in the Edmonton area but later moved to Jasper where he and Dora's brother Jim were employed by the Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course. Dora and her mother stayed in Edmonton where she received her schooling. Dora later moved to Peace River where she became the first school teacher in the district, teaching grades 1 to 8. In the late 1930s Dora moved back to Jasper and was a teacher at Jasper Elementary school until her retirement in 1969.
